.17HMR Hunts

Back in the fall season I shot a squirell out of a tree at a measured 110 yds with my CZ.
Shortly after that I shot one one on the ground from about 50 yds away IN THE BACK:evil: killed him so quick he didn't even have a chance to spit the acorn out of his mouth.

Since switching to 17hmr I have yet to have a tree rat get away from me. I use the 20gr loads they tend to be a bit too destructive at close ranges but 17hmr shoots so flat that headshots are not a broblem out to 50 yds, past that and body shots just kinda have a minature 30-06 on deer effect.

I've killed several large ground hogs with one the furthest being about 50 yards away; none of them left the place they were standing.

Last spring my wife and I killed 60-70 prairie dogs in a 8-10 acre pasture in a three hour shoot. She was shooting Stingers out of a 22 auto and taking the ones under 100 yards, I was using my Savage .17 HMR and taking the shots 100-200 yards out. No pictures, but I took the head clean off one at 150 yards.

I regularly kill about 20 rock squirrels from my porch every summer since I got my 17. Most shots are about 70 yards, haven't lost one yet.

while doing bird removal on my uncle's farm a few months back, i zapped a pigeon at 40 yards with my savage 17. Blew a nice hole in his chest.

here's my bird slayer (and hopefully soon p.dog)
