1860 Grip Frame

Hi. First post here. Lookin at first multi-shot handgun - I just got an old cva kentucky pistol kit in .45 that never got assembled (AND THE STEEL NEVER FINISHED OR OILED!!!!)
I have got my sights set on an 1860 by way of cimarron (they make that beautiful charcoal blue finish).
What I would like to know is if it is possible to get a bird's head gripframe onto one of those. Is it?

I have handled these things, without the bh grip, but don't see how it could cause any problems, and I really like the bird's head feel. And I have no interest in the "thunderer" style grip.

Also, if you have an uberti 1860, let me know how great it is! Pictures are much appreciated.

I have two, a Pietta made in 1982 and a Euroarms made in 1998:

Both are fine guns.

A bird's head grip is certainly possible, but it's a custom job as nobody makes them for aftermarket sales.

I have used Bp ML most of my life now. But my son and I are looking at getting a set of BP revolvers. We are into accuracy and are Expert hunters.
(notice) Expert not pros. I think there is a difference. Any way we are wondering what you guys are getting for accuarcy .
And is that 1860 as good or better then the 58s.

Preference between an 1860 Colt Army and an 1858 Remington New Army is a matter of personal choice, so what I like will be of little use to you. They really are very comparable, and it comes down to your personal combination of hand size, wrist strength, hand-eye coordination, arm length and all those other intangibles that make a certain gun fit or perform better in one man's hands versus anothers.

I love my Uberti Army. The fit and finish iare exquisite and the timing crisp and positive. It shoots very well and I can get all my shots in the ‘black’ (12 inch diameter) even at 50 yards.

Marvellous BP gun in all respects!

I am about to get paid on a large job . my oldest son works for me and we have been Eyeballing these things for some time now. we will be getting two new guns soon. We have killed deer with just about everything there is. Time to try these BP revolvers now. I will post pics when we do. Thank you all.

would perhaps the aftermarket new model vaquero bird's head grip (like the ones from brownell's) frames fit to these 1860s without too much work?

And these pictures are great, btw! This may have been the most beautiful pistol ever made.

Here is my EMF (PIETTA) 1860. Beautiful finish, but the fit isn't quite up with the UBERTI.
