swathdriver do you use a oversize ball to help seal the chamber and what size?

Our Palmetto has .316 chambers and .315 groove diameter; making for an accurate pistol. I've run out of store bought .319s, .320s and .321s and we now cast our own .319s with the Lee mold.

Pietta's Pocket Remington has .315 chambers with a .32677 average groove diameter according to Mr. Pietta. I've measured some older ones and found those numbers to be about right.

I reckon one could ream the Pietta's chambers out to groove diameter but for just plinking? Go buy an Uberti Colt and be done with it.

We use SWISS 4Fg powder, Olde Eynsford did not offer 4F last time I checked.

The pocket Remington's can be very useful guns, especially when loaded off the gun, I use .319" round balls and seat them with a brass rod.

If you are thinking about a conversion cylinder, I believe that the Nickel plated ones have a brass frame not steel.

My opinion only,a fine kit gun or companion to a larger revolver. worth it. My most expensive Pietta to date.

I have one with the brass frame from CVA that was made by Armi San Marco. My wife gave it to me for Christmas in the 80s. Unlike other Remington models this model was originally made with a brass frame and later a steel frame so both are historically correct The safety notches mine were too shallow and the hammer didn't fit. I used the correct thickness file and deepened them just a little in the area closest to the center of the cylinder. Now the hammer fits, not very deep, but it works for me.

There were four different versions of this model, two had brass frames and the other two steel. Of the two steel, one had a brass trigger sheath, the other steel.
I too have the ASM brass., and the Pietta steel. Both are historically accurate. Just FYI.

Well, I had a minor tragedy here involving a holster from the Dixie... first it wouldn't fit on my 2" gunbelt. Bad, very bad. So i was thinking about return or fix meself when the amazing free pitt bull puppy decided to taste test the rig. Partially yummy.
Now on top of that. I don't have any holster that fits my .31 remmy. So I take the spyderco and some paracord, and a swiss army knife and salvage the puppy holster. Now we have a nifty little, albeit crude, belt holster for the pocket gun.
The management has insisted on me waiting for chicago screws and doing some more cosmetic work on my DIY holster before posting any pics. Suffice it to say it's like wearing a knife with the flap down or folded back for open top. I love Dixie and really was prepared to spend a hundred bucks on a proper holster for his gun.
Anywho, realizing that a twenty dollar holster can be easily cut down and modified at yonder kitchen table suits me. We hope to improve our cash position to acquire fancy toys. In the interim a nearly 'free' holster is welcome. Pics to follow...

Who might this fellow be? That's a great price and I will eventually be wanting a matching holster and belt, and possibly a pouch.

Hit the link and it will bring you to his shop. His name is S.D. Caughey and he had a stroke awhile back. He does this as rehab and for some extra $$.

Thanks!

Now I just need to put off a Lyman barrel turned into a 28 ga to finally get that Uberti Colt Police model so I can see about having him make me a rig!

Here is the ten minute fix :D swiss army knife, paracord, spyderco Endura serrated and sharpened to the point of putting His Holiness the Dalai Lama in danger of an inappropriate exited utterance. It was functional and showed no signs of difficulty being worn about the homestead here for a few hours.
re: Companion gun, mea culpa. I started reading gun magazines in the seventies when there was an effort by manufacturers to promote handgun sport use in response to legislation inspired by the federal GCA of 1968. Although heavy, I like carrying a sidearm with a rifle. Almost always a small caliber sidearm with a heavy rifle or slug capable shotgun, and a heavier sidearm with a small bore rifle or choked shotgun.
When hunting with a handgun, I'm guilty packing a second gun when we can get away with it. Hastening to add that when I've been out with my BP revolvers we really don't feel that 'naked' without a 'back up' and would normally get more use out of a second knife. Say a Kukri or large Bowie instead of another gun. If hunting with a nice Ruger .22 handgun the companion arm would be capable of taking larger game, for instance. Or vice versa, if hunting with a heavy bore handgun a companion handgun of smaller caliber.
My 2" bbl 1938 Colt New Pocket was the spit in the role of small bore companion. Not having fired it yet, I like this bp just a bit better. The cylinder comes right out, a bit more bbl, and from what Ive read generally more capable than this operator.
Also modified a JayPee 'CS' J frame holster that already had a second snap to hold my "I" frame Colt new Pocket .32. Now it holds the .31 albeit with a bit of barrel exposed. The Jay Pee tactical slide administrative 1863 Pocket Model holster :D Will try to get some pics up today between chores.
Rod, I really really like that open top holster. For my use, I normally go with full flap. I am fat, busted up, keep forgetting I am middle aged and busted up. I do my own stunts with just the one good leg :D So I like to protect my revolver from my own lack of athleticism. I'm really good at falling down and my holster should be as well.
Have to say the workmanship and price appear to be unmatched on the market. I'll keep an eye on that vendor. Mucho Gracias!.
I have gotten the Chicago screws and taken a black sharpie to some cut edges. Still haven't finished the flap, leaving it oversized and crude to see how the rig wears. More pics, like I said hopefully later.
The struggle with the wommins for the kitchen table is 4 realz playas. :D

Trailer Park Tech... 2 0f 4 first the Jay Pee tactical administrative thumbreak belt slide ... :D

So that's two holsters saved from 'the box' with less than seven bucks worth of Chicago screws and a Sharpie I'm quite sure I didn't steal :D
