Guys I'd love to have a quality, full-metal 1911 air pistol. Just not sure which kind I should get, I see several makers.

Can someone recommend me a good 1911 air pistol for target practice? Thanks!

I've got a Tanfoglio Witness 1911 Blowback Co2 powered BB (35803) pistol that works pretty good. The magazines are a little fiddly to load, but not too bad and you can buy additional magazines.

I have a winchester. recoil is pretty heavy for a bb gun, enough to suprise you. Weight is about half a pound light, but still heavy for a bb gun. I hear the Tanfoglio is better overall. The winchester safety has to be modified to be useful, but its an easy mod. The grip safety moves, but does not do anything. The grips are cheap, and not compatable with 1911. I recomend it, but its not an exact replica. It gets about 50 good rounds between co2 tanks, and is reasonable accurate. Accuracy drops fast with rapid fire. You will shoot about 1 foot low by the tenth shot at 30 feet rapid fire. Slow fire, its pretty good for 50 shots.

Not that I can suggest a model, but are you looking for an airsoft 1911 for practicing self defense drills (accurate enough for center of mass shooting) or for a pellet gun for accuracy practice or pest control?

For grins & giggles I have an airsoft 92FS all metal, blowback replica that uses green gas/propane. Manual of arms & size are identical to my 96FS and it's nearly the same weight as my 96FS. At +/-15 yards it's accurate within 6" windage-wise & 12" elevation.-wise. At 20' and closer, it's accurate within about 1".

Thanks, gang. As much as I love my 1911 the rounds are pricey for it. I am looking for a trainer and a fun air gun. Also have been mulling rimfire .22 1911s, but might get an airgun as they are far cheaper to shoot and with a blowback model the recoil is practically the same.

Got a Remington 1911RAC for Christmas a couple of years ago and I love it! Lots of fun plinking away down in the basement and has the same heft and feel as my 1911s.

This is a nice looking BB gun. How would you rate the durability and reliability of it?

So far, so good. No problems to speak of with either the gun or it's performance. Very reliable and I suspect it will be very durable for many years to come.

The reason why I was asking is that I've never owned a CO2 pistol with the blowback feature and have been apprehensive about how well they hold up over time. I've come close several times to either getting this one (by Crosman) or the Tanfoglio (by KWC). They're both roughly $100 so the loss wouldn't be that great. It sure is a nice looking pistol.

Thanks!

You're more than welcome! The only thing I would do differently might be to get a 1911 version that had higher visibility sights on it. The Remington 1911RAC is a little too authentic with it's original type 1911 sights that I have a hard time picking them up down in the basement sometimes!

I have two of the KWC, with no problems, the nice thing about them is the fact that all the seals are in the Mag. I have a spare mag just in case. If you have a problem with your sights why not just place a little florescent paint on it. Testors is the best of many I have used. For true "Realism" the KWC is about as close as you can get. Really great triggers as well. Back strap safety, everything is very close to the fireburner.

Ok ... So I took a chance and ordered the Tanfoglio Witness 1911 with a spare magazine, 6000 BB's and a box of 40 CO2 cartridges. Should be here by next week. Was close to getting the Remington but as I bounced back and forth between the two, the roll marks and huge warning labels on the Remington just stood out a bit too much. And, from what I've read, they're nearly identical. Looking forward to this ... Gives me a chance to practice a bit in the backyard at the end of the day.

Glad I ran across this thread. Thanks!
