Ok guy's here is my problem. I own 6 1911 style Colt pistols. I just bought a new Defender and took it out to the range the other day. After field strip, lube, etc. I took her out to the range and put 100 rounds of wwb fmj 230gr. The pistol worked perfect except the 3 cuts on my forehead! Before I send it back to Colt to have them check it out(extractor) or what they may find. Do you think I would have the problem of spent casings whacking me in the forehead if I went to 180gr. rounds??

Are you a right or left handed shooter? Where are you being hit (not "in the head", but "above left eye brow" e.g)? Where are your ejected rounds landing?

I shoot right hand. I did not notice where the other 97 spent casings went. Good point. But the 3 that landed on my forehead were center, left of center, and right of center forehead. Still have the trophy marks. No big deal, just thought I may try 180 gr before I sent it back to colt. From what I have been reading other Defender owners have had the forehead smack. I was kinda wondering if it would loosen up a bit and stop or the 180 gr. might change it.

Been looking at used Defender to be sold at a local auction. What is everyones opinion on what a used Colt Defender is worth. It has minor holster wear, but I know previous owner and he has stated it always operated flawlessly for him. He sold and upgraded to a Wilson Combat 45 acp.
