I really do know squat about 1911s but I have been thinking about buying one. Budsgunshop.com has 1 Sig and 2 Paras on special. If anyone has seen them please comment on the guns and if they are good deals.

If youre looking for sometihng thats affordable and seems to be thought of as a relatively good gun, then look at the Rock Islands.

As previously mentioned Rock Island Springfield Armory, and Taurus seem to
have the best deals going right now; although with the success of the new
Taurus 1911's, the company has raised their prices from the initial low of
    $449.00~! :uhoh:  :scrutiny:

Taurus have crept up to about $525.

I personally think that the Sig XO at $639 is a steal. For the extra $100 I would choose the Sig over the Taurus.

I think one of the Para's on special at that site is a high capacity 1911. Just make sure thats what you want if you do take one. I do believe they have a standard on special too from Para. The Taurus 1911's in my area are going for 585 now. They raise the price everytime they get a new one in stock. For another 100 bucks, I could get a comparable loaded springfield. I dont like the Ambi safety. It seems to add 150 bucks to a gun, and its worthless unless your a lefty. I have seen no other advantage. If your wanting to get a good cheaper 1911, the mil-spec or the Taurus seem to be good choices (if you can find the Taurus for 525 or so.. Dan Wesson, Colt, Custom Springfield, and such are great if you have the money..
