ok so im looking for a 1911 holster. Inside the waist is a must, small of back is prefered. either palm out or not doesnt matter. Belt loops are prefered over clips. i tried a search but "1911" and "holster" are very common terms.

so keeping in mind
IWB
Small of back
5" 1911 ( Para Ordnance p14-45)
any material. leather would be nice.
Loops > clips

price is of low object. 100$+ is an aceptable price for a quality holster.

any suggestions? need more info?

I have Milt Sparks, Don Hume and Blade Tech for my m1911 Govts.

I do not think it wise to carry a doublestack m1911 small of back. (I own a P13 and it would only conceal if you I always wore a leather jacket or if I was a hunchback.)

SOB doesn't necessarily mean 'behind the spine' but rather 'behind the back', and SOB carry is simply carrying at the 4:30 / 5:00 position ... and if you carry that far back you should probably have a holster with a steeper cant than the ones made for the 3:30 / 4:00 position. I think I know what way the wind is gonna blow with that double stack 1911 but .... we each gotta find out for ourselves ;)

MIlt SParks - check the online website for holsters in stock.
a new IWB model that is out is called the Axiom - feature of being
able to remove the holster w/o loosening the belt buckle for convenience

iv been checking out milt sparks for a while now. aswell as some desantis

some of you seem to express problems with SOB carry. im a small guy.. real small. and i picked a REAL big gun for carry. but my $ can only go so far and so i needed a range/HD/CCW/SHTF pistol and that was a double stack .45

i dont plan to carry this alot. but i plan to carry it untill i can save up for something smaller. and i figure. a good holster never goes out of style so im willing to spend the cash on a CC holster that will only be used for a few months to a year. and SOB is the BEST was for me to hide a double stack .45

im REAL skinny i cant express that enoug

I've got a couple of holsters that work well with my Commander. One is a Galco FED218, but that's a paddle holster, although I'm sure they make the same thing with belt loops if you prefer.

I've also got an Uncle Mikes #19 pancake holster that works well, and a JBP 035 belt slide that I like.

Whatever you get, make sure you've got a good belt to support it. A good gun belt. I got mine from "The Beltman."

I don`t know if they are true, but I`ve heard more then a few negative comments as to SOB carry. The main gripe I`ve heard is the possiblity of injury to the spine. I`d have to search for some info on this before I made my mind up it is the only way for me to carry.

I prefer the CompTAC CTAC but for what you're looking for the Milt Sparks VersaMax II sounds like the best answer, given you'll accept the higher price and long wait.

Sorry the new Axiom is OWB

fwiw the Versa Max is approx. $100
I didn't check all of it's features. but they do
warn getting the right variant for your particular
pistol is important

the SUmmer Special is $70
it's the classic IWB that all others are
judged by.

Have you been to the Milt Sparks Holsters Web site?

Waiting period - Yesterday I ordered a #HSR i.e. the
Hackathorn SPecial - crossdraw with
1.5 inch belt both basket weave in cordovan
and marty said 20-25 weeks backlog. so
if not Xmas my birthday is a month later or so

the Milt SParks site has an online inventory of holsters
they have on hand as well as listing the approved
dealers of their products

im thinking a...
milt sparks VM-2 orits cheaper brother a Watch Six
Desantis "Inner Piece" or "Cozy partner"
Kirkpatrick "Hidden Defense"

id rather not wait 20 weeks for a holster. id gladly pay for quality but thats just too much of a wiat

and while i want SOB holster, im opening up to an IWB and maybe wearing it a little more back ( called kidney?)
