Hi I am looking for a good holster for my RIA 1911. This will be for when I am at the range and is not a carry gun so it dose not need to be concealable. Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

any idea how they fit with RIA 1911 models? none of them other than the Wright Leatherworks Predator mention the RIA in their compatibility list. The DeSantis Speed Scabbard dose have a "standard 1911" option, but a good fit is the difference between an okay holster and a great holster and I want to be sure how it fits. Originally I was just gonna get a holster from Bravo Concealment because I am familiar with them but they also don't list RIA when selecting what gun you have for their 1911 holsters.... which surprises me because while they are not the nicest 1911's out there their are a LOT of them out there.

RIA makes a wide range of 1911s. From GI up to TAC and double stack models. Knowing which one you specifically have will help find a holster.

If it's a 5" barreled RIA 1911, with no rail, it is simply the equivalent of a Colt Government Model.

Most holsters are made using a "Blue Gun" ( http://www.bluegunstore.com/colt1911.aspx ). Nobody will make a holster specifically for a RIA 1911. It's just a 1911. SIG is about the only 1911 that you have to specify maker, since some models have a SIG-unique slide. There may be some oddity to an RIA 1911, but it isn't significant enough for a holster to matter.

I think it's one of their rock series full size but I would need to double check.

Edit: Yeah so the only markings I could find were the RIA branding and the SN and M1911-A1 FS, none of which tell me exactly which one it is. But other than the grip which seems to be the standard GI grip everything else seems to be the same as the Rock Series.

Bianchi UM-84 ought to suit.
From $10-20, so very reasonably price.
The belt clip will handle a bunch of belts, too.
The flap is removable, and a separate thumb snap is available.

Unless you have something on an under-mounted rail, or an RDS mounted, your RIA ought to fit.

Thanks this is helpful this is my first 1911 got it last year and have had enough range time with it at this point I am convinced it will remain part of my rotation frequently enough that getting a good holster would be a worthwhile investment.

so just to be sure if a holster doesn't offer a generic option you would just pick the colt government from the list for an RIA?

Barrel length is significant, as is whether it has a rail or not, but other than that, almost all 1911's are the same (SIG being the rare exception).

5" Barrel No Rail

but for instance BCA dose not offer a generic option it literally asks you to pick from a list of specific models

5" Barrel No Rail
Any holster listed for a 5" 1911 or a Colt Government Model will fit your RIA.

For instance, the drop down on this JM Custom Kydex OWB #2, would be common in your holster search

https://www.jmcustomkydex.com/p/OWB-V2.html

Most holster makers couldn't possibly list all the makers of 1911's and there isn't any point since they'd be the same anyway.

I have used Galco F.L.E.T.C.H. and Combat Master posters for my 5" 1911s. They are OWB holsters and work well to secure the pistols.

I spent a little time looking for a good dimension comparison between a Colt Gov't profile 1911 and the RIA 5" no rail. While I couldn't find a really good one, complete with circles and arrows and notations, I looked at the spec sheets on both Colt's and RIA's sites, and I think the OP will be pretty safe just ordering a holster for a Colt 1911 (or a 'standard' 1911), assuming that his RIA is a basic, no-rail, 5" model.
