I've got a Llama 1911 pattern pistol in 9mm Largo that needs some attention (yes I know it's a POS, but it's a sentimental POS)
Slide won't lock back on an empty chamber with magazine inserted and the thumb safety doesn't work.
It's an occasional shooter, keep it around because it belonged to my Dad. I can shoot it the way it is but want to make it right.

Not quite a true 1911 as many/most of the parts will not interchange. However, the same techniques work to repair/tune the guns.

Remove the slide from the frame, reinstall the slide stop, and insert an empty magazine. Does the magazine follower engage the slide stop lobe? Does it pop up past the lobe causing the magazine to drag when you remove it? Are there any copper/brass marks on the tip of the lobe? All are indicators for diagnosis of the problem.

Describe how the thumb safety malfunctions. Do you pull the trigger and the hammer fall with the safety engaged? Does the hammer drop to half cock when you move the safety to the fire position? The safety lug blocks the sear at the left rear bottom corner. There should be zero movement of the sear when pulling the trigger with the safety engaged. Sometimes the safety fit is fine, but the sear nose/hammer hooks are worn or altered to an unsafe condition which allows the spring pressure to force them apart because of the worn or altered angles. Not sure how close in size real1911 parts are. You might be able to fit them to your gun...... or not.

Take it to a gunsmith. Kinda hard for people on an internet forum to diagnose functioning problems, especially with no sharp, detailed closeup photos.

Trip to a smith is good advice. A really good cleaning may help some.

    Thanks for the input!

I used the stop from my Colt (actually fit!) but the slide still didn't lock back. Stuck a .45 magazine in and the stop worked fine, once. Used the Llama mag, it also worked OK one time but then no more. Reassembled the Llama with its original parts, worked once but wouldn't repeat. ???

When the trigger is pulled with the safety engaged, hammer falls. Remains in the full cocked position if the safety is moved to the fire position.
    The weapon is clean.

Gunsmith would be a great option if there was one within a hundred miles of here.
