Arched. Easily swapped for whatever style you like.

The Mil-Spec. should be arched with vertical
    serrations. My S & W 1911 Stainless Steel came
with a blued checkered & arched MSH. I searched
around on the internet and found Brownell's carries
a couple that are SS flat and it has serrations
similiar to the serrations on the front of the grip/frame.
I opted for the one from Les Baer, and it's at
    my gunsmith's getting installed.

I prefer arched, checked, with a lanyard loop. Easy swap.
