1911's - are they THAT finicky?

At least one thousand nine-hundred and eleven times since I joined this forum in 2004 …

Always ends in guys touting Glocks and the anecdotal stories from guys whose only 1911 was bought thirty years ago and it was unreliable, or the guy whose brother had three "jammo-matic" Colts or Kimbers ...

Yawn. Some of us can keep a 1911 running, and the rest don't deserve a 1911.

Ive currently got two I havent had any real problems keeping them running for about 25 years now, and since they were "tweaked" when new, they have been pretty much 100% ever since. Still shoot them regularly too.

What do you suppose was the problem with the other 25 or so I had that I couldnt get to work properly or run reliably over the years and got rid of?

Guess I didnt deserve them. If so, thats a good thing, and I will agree with you there 110%. I dont deserve things that don't work properly. :p

Something tells me you wouldnt have put up with them long either. Unless you were a glutton for punishment. I was for a little while. :)

I guess the being a finicky owner part, is being silly enough to want/expect, a basic, reasonably priced gun, that runs out of the box without any help, eh?

After a 20 year hiatus or so, I got yet another Springfield 1911 this past year I dont deserve. You interested? :D

It'll give you something to tinker with if youre bored.
