The only 1911 of those listed that I have any experience with is the Sig. I'm happy with my TacPac, but for the same money I am much happier with my plain jane Colt 1991A1 that I picked up used at an online auction.

I am happy with my Kimber Custom II. PSA had them on sale for $720 a little while ago and picked one up. Can't say it is crazy durable as I have only put a few hundred rounds through it so far, but it IS crazy accurate.

I really wanted a SA Loaded until I learned they were not made in America. Now, normally I don't care too much about that, but for a 1911, to purchase one not made in America just seems....wrong.

SA probably has the best customer service of all the 1911 entry level makers now. Colt's is also pretty good.

SA pros: lifetime warranty with paid shipping, wide variety of models.

Colt pros: Decent warranty with paid shipping, less variety, cachet of the Colt name.

Sig pros: Good variety, well finished.

Kimber pros: Seem well finished, dehorned very well. Lots of variety.

SA cons: The fit and finish of the SA guns I've seen lately is not as great.

Colt cons: Colts have very sharp edges, especially on the dust cover and front of the slide.

Sig cons: Unique slide profile means regular 1911 holsters often don't fit.

Kimber cons: Supposed to have bad customer service.

I own a Springfield Armory 1911-A1 that is as plain Jane as it gets that I can at 7yds tear a single hole the size of a golf ball in the target. I've also owned 2 Kimbers (Royal and Eclipse II) that neither one could I hit the target consistantly in the same spot.

Looking back I think it had something to due with the length of the trigger on the Kimbers as the SA has (as you can see in the pictures below) your typical GI short trigger where as the Kimbers had the mid/long length adjustables.

I don't have small hands but apparently I need to wrap my finger around the trigger where the center knuckle of my trigger finger is over it.

I have owned a Loaded and a LW Operator and both were great guns...I had absolutely zero issues with either.

I owned a Kimber Pro Raptor II and after 3 trips back to Kimber and a tremendous amount of effort and inconvenience on my part they agreed to buy it back from me - because they simply couldn't get the gun to run through a single mag without malfunctioning. What really frustrated me about Kimber was they were continuing to send the gun back to me in a non functioning condition.

I really like the SIG 1911 - I think they lead the market in delivering value to the customer. Things like front strap checkering and night sights are nice standard features on a relatively low cost 1911.
