I have one of these which I have not shot for 40 years. If it shot fine then it still should be safe to use now on pigs or deer and what ammo should be used? Iv'e read new loads are not good for the older guns, thx

The Swedish Mausers are solidly built with good steel. The main concern with modern ammo and older weapons chambered in that caliber is the 6.5x55 Krag Jorgensens the Norwegian military used in the same era.

I've used a fair bit of the Prvi Partizan 6.5 in a pair of Swedes - no issues and pretty decent brass.

A lot of factory ammo is loaded with the goal of meeting the lower chamber pressures of the earlier 6.5mm Swedes. Some is loaded for the more modern hunting rifles which can take the higher pressures, you just need to check.

^This. 139gr Prvi shoots really well in most 6.5x55s and is low pressure for older mausers, shoots right around 3/4" in my modern action and put a deer down in real short order, brass is fantastic for cheap ammo, better then Rem/Win brass anyday.
