My wife bought me a 1938 7.35 cal. Mannlicher Carcano rifle, I believe the Cavalry model, from an antique shop 15 years ago. I've never been able to find the sling hardware (side-mounted front and stock bars) for it. Would anyone happen to have access to these parts?

Yes, you are correct. The sixth rifle is identical to mine, so long as it has the fixed rear sight. I am also finding that mine is missing the top wooden stock piece and the stock nose cap. The stock and barrel were not in very good aesthetic condition, so I stripped the bluing and refinished the stock (a big no-no for some I am sure, but I wanted it to be appealing to the eye as well). It looks good and is in very good shape minus the missing parts I've mentioned.

It has the folding spike bayonet? Are you sure it's 7.35mm??

I have never encountered a 7.35mm Cav carbine.

Best make sure someone didn't just put a 7.35mm marked rear sight on a 6.5mm rifle.

I've attached some pics. Maybe you can help me identify exactly what this is. I've not yet seen a Carcano that looks just like mine.

With the fixed sight and 1939 date on the barrel, I'd guess it's a Model 1938 Short Rifle, with a cut down and semi-sporterized military stock.

You might be able to find a replacement stock with the sling swivels, handguard, and barrel bands from someplace like Sarco or Numrich Gun Parts, if you wanted to restore it to original condition. Other than removing the bluing, it doesn't look like it's been altered any, except for reshaping the stock. Depends on what you want to do with it, and how much money you feel like putting into it.
