I just bought a 336 44mag this morning and am wondering if anyone has any experience with them...
I looked it up in the value book and found 250.00 in the shape its in.
The book also said it was only made for 2 years and only 2820 of them where made.
Where they dogs or just unpopular?

I believe that they didn't sell particularly well back then, but Marlin did re-introduce the .44 in the 1990's as the 1894 series and they have been going strong ever since. Most probably this is due to the growing popularity of Cowoby Action Shooting, but also I think that many folks are discovering the utility of a short, light, lever action carbine in a pistol caliber.

I use a .357 Marlin 1894C as the back-up to my 1892 in .45 Colt for CAS, but I have developed a strong attachment to both of these guns, and would not hesitate to grab either one of them for self-defense work.

Well I've shot it and it hits what I aimed at, action works smooth with the reloads (230gr) I have, so I guess I'll keep it and name it George.
