Finally got my new SA GI to the range after a trip to my 'smith to lighten the trigger. Installing a Nowlin sear spring, stoning the sear, and a 20# mainspring resulted in taking the crisp 5 1/2 lb. factory trigger down to a great 4 lb. pull. The only other things I did before taking it to the range were to install a Wolff 16# recoil spring, a Brown extractor, Brown FP stop, & a "regular" firing pin spring in place of the ridiculously long factory FP spring (with the titanium FP & the factory spring the pistol failed the "pencil test"). Anyway, only fired about 50 rds. thru it today (Win. white box 230 gr. FMJ). The pistol didn't miss a beat except for the first round which failed to eject (I think this was due to a poor mag. which I immediately changed out). The Springer hit about at point of aim from 15 ft. Groups were offhand, but showed good potential. Next time out I'll try some sandbag-rested groups. I tried a few Win. Hp's at the end, but the pistol didn't like them. I had counted on using ball anyway. The only other negative was that ejected cases often grazed the top of my head (as Tuner has pointed out this is probably due to the factory ejector, but I'll worry about that later). All in all I'm quite pleased that such an inexpensive pistol performed so well.
