And if stock sits until it has to be sold at a loss, guess what won’t get restocked.
Supply and demand will reach an equilibrium. It'll be more than you want to pay and less then the seller wants to charge you. But, you'll be glad to have the primers and they'll be glad to have the money. Gotta love capitalism.

I just wanted some shinny new primers for .45 acp, and 44 mag and such, was happy to get some after a long day

Found some CCI SPP for $6.99 yesterday, first ones I have even seen in 3 months and those before were $5.99, they are not selling boxes of 1000...I just got 3, I did not ask the limit. That is more than I will need for a while, and I am just reporting that I was glad to see them before the Smurf's packed them off to Broker sites on the interwebs.

I have been reloading for a couple of friends the last few years. One of them helped move a safe and he was given 5,000 Winchester large pistol primers in return, he in turn gave them to me to contribute to my reloading endeavors :D. I like reloading and casting so keeping them in big bore ammo is just another bonus.View attachment 1030046
that’s pretty!

Check back on my previous posts. I'm not complaining about prices. Never did. The price reflects the market. My bugaboo is availability. Zero 1K/bricks of product at 1¢ per 1K/brick is no bargain - and no market. I don't get the option to buy when nothing is for sale. One 1K/brick at $100 per brick is no bargain, either - but it is available and now I have a choice to buy or pass. My point is, if we, as a consumer group, only buy when the retailer, distributor and manufacturer lose money, the supply chain comes to a screeching halt. They WILL stop selling at a loss. What about that is so hard to understand? What do people think? That these businesses are charities?

Midway has CCI LPP’s limit 1K per. With hazmat and shipping I was in for over $80.

Who are you friends with at Midway?
My total would be $102.18 if I only bought primers. Did you also buy powder and you're divvying up the HazMat to get closer to $80 for the primers?

It's good to have friends! :)

When this latest feeding frenzy started a lot of my friends and neighbors poo-poo'd it. "It'll pass," they said. "Nothing will change, and if things do get short it won't last long and prices will return to normal soon," they said. All the Mary Sunshine hot air blowing up skirts didn't help and them folks ran out of range, varmint and vermin ammo - some faster and some slower but everyone who didn't reload ran out pretty quickly. The local shops were dry, online was dry, the farming co-ops and hunt clubs ran dry...

I got a couple of shopping bags from folks I gave some of my factory ammo to, filled with reloading supplies - old powder, new powder, primers of every size and variety (and every age). It looked like a few folks got together and raided granddad's barn. Probably did. It was all accepted by me gratefully - then checked carefully! ;) Momma didn't raise no fools.

$102 is "over $80" ?
It's also over $100...

A few posters live in driving distance of Midway. That's why I mention it. Don't know if wc is one of them or not. His price isn't an online price unless he made a big order to split up the HazMat.

Don't go getting your panties in a bunch. Unbunch, relax, it's not your convo - at least not exclusively.

I ordered a few things, powder and accessories. I will look later for the exact breakdown. They also have free shipping on orders over $49. Either way, it’s a bird in the hand, your dollars may vary.

What I figured.
Thanks.
When I dropped the primers in my cart the free shipping didn't apply. Usually doesn't with HazMat items these days. :(

Ouch 9.8% sales tax, for pitiful freedom hating Washington political BS

Wyandotte county, Kansas City, Kansas had/ has a 10.5% tax when I left in 2015, we still even got income tax on top of that.

One store I stop at in small town WI has been getting fairly regular shipments of cci and federal primers, cost is around 65.
Not great but bought enough to replace what I shot and build a slight egg.

I get your point, but my point is the doom and gloom that you describe ain't gonna happen. Folks can scream "Don't buy, don't buy!" until they're blue in the face, but people are still going to buy. Supply and demand will find a balance and capitalism will prevail. I personally am not going to spend 10 cents apiece for primers until I need primers that cost 10 cents apiece. But that's not because I'm boycotting to drive the price down, it's because I don't need primers right now. When I do, I will do my part to keep primer sellers in business. :)

I have a few bricks of primers to last a bit, But the enjoyment of buying something that we have been fighting about for a solid year now, Buying into a Nola Pirate primers, roumors of 3 new factories, $350 bricks, home made primers…. is Priceless! Buy a brick at what every your comfortable with, wipe down the box shinny, post to all your buddies! then get over it, until the next PANIC!

love panics btw!

I don't need anything either. Haven't from the get-go. Good thing, too. The nearest retailer selling primers to me is Bass Pro 35 +/- miles away. They got lots of nuthin'. Haven't had much of anything the whole time. But what I need isn't the point. The point is how we act as a community. If we, as a community, only buy when the sellers lose, sellers will stop selling. No profit = no market. Happens all the time. Never underestimate the power of peer pressure, either. When someone as well respected as Walkalong or some of these other moderators and the mass-production reloaders say don't buy until the retailers cry uncle - force them to sell at a loss - people listen. Maybe they don't know that's the message they're sending but, it is. And, to be 100% honest, to say I don't need "anything" isn't entirely true. I actually could use some Federal standard SRP but, it's not critical. I've got CCI SPM's but their cups are stiffer than the standard Federal. They just don't work as nice in heavy .357 loads. Will I buy at $60/K? Probably, eventually. I bought some large pistol primers from Beckwith (GS & indoor range 45 or so miles away) for $120 when they got some in - before they hit the shelf - because I asked them to try and find supplies. They did - so I bought. Now they can't get any primers but, when they do, I'll hear about it before they hit the shelf. And they always take a little off my powders when I buy.

let it be known, as of 10/07/2021 Mark_Mark was wrong about

Okay, I accept that.

Having said that, you're gonna be eating this crow for some time to come.

I'm (probably) not going to keep bringing it up, but when it does get brought up again - and it will - I can tell you that I will chuckle.

Every time.

Because my friend, it really is funny.

By my reading, he still didn't admit to being wrong about the primer factory rumors. Print factory, yes, primer factory, no. :neener:
