I'm going to use my spring break to air out some lead in my rifles. I was looking for someplace that has a line longer than 200 yards, and in Arkansas it's harder to find. I'm going to drive up to five hours to get there, so my choices are all between Little Rock and:

1) Dallas along I30
2) Oklahoma City along I40
3) Nashville along I40
4) St Louis along I55

The only 200 yard public range I know of in AR that I'm willing to shoot at (Mayflower is not in the running) is an AGFC range outside Paragould. The kicker is that they've got to allow stuff like Wolf ammo (attracts a magnet).

Any suggestions are welcome. I already know about the NRA's lookup, but I was hoping to get some individual feedback.

The best I know of is either Moore in or near Camp Robinson and a 100 yard indoor range in Searcy.

Moore is a outdoor range and may have the yardage you seek.

Hungry Seagull, I believe you're thinking of the Mayflower range, which is just north of Camp Robinson. They're 200 yards, and I've heard so much negative press about the ROs there that I've refused to go. I'm shooting for MY enjoyment on spring break, not theirs, which means faster than one round every two seconds occasionally.

taliv, thanks for the recommendation. I work 24/48 hours on the weekends so those days in March are out, unfortunately. NRA says that range is private, but I'll give them a call to get more info. Sounds promising, though.

Moore is too far from us. Also they are a regulated range meaning if you were breaking a rule on thier property citations start at 100 and max out 1000 dollars. So we stay away from that one.

We go to shoot, learn and improve. Not to be cited if we forgot something. There is already enough going on as it is just going to a shoot.

Our RO in Searcy is a good one and generally we have no problems.

Good luck on your search for a good range.

Could a moderator move this to General Gun? I think I might have posted it in the wrong forum ...

http://ofgc.org/new/clubinfo.html Im a member here. The only thing is , you have to be a member to go in. I dont know where you are from in Arkansas, or what dates you are going to be coming. I am going to be off of work (temp laid off) I would be available march 18th, 19th, and 20th. If your interested in possibly saving yourself some driving time you could meet me up here one of those days and we could go to the range.

redbandit98, thanks for the info and offer. I'm in Little Rock.

Looks interesting. I'd like to see the facilities and maybe meet some of the members before I drop the $80/year for access. I don't know if I can make it before 3/23-3/27, but if I can I'll see if we can't work something out.

oh i wasnt implying you join up. I can take anyone that is over 50 miles away as a guest for free. I just thought if you were around in that time frame, it may save you some time. I definately wouldnt join a gun club that was no where near my immediate location.

I definately wouldnt join a gun club that was no where near my immediate location.

Given the sad state of affairs in Little Rock, I would. ;)

Plus, I don't mind getting away from this town for extended periods of time. I liked it before I had to live and work here. Now, not so much.

haha well, I wouldnt know. I dont get down that way much. From what I hear, I dont need to. I have been told its not the greatest place to dwell.

Thingster, thanks for that link. I wasn't aware that any of the MDC ranges were over 100 yards. I may have to make it over that way sometime this spring.

I may also have to try the range by Paragould, I didn't even know it existed.

Dallas along I30 is a 300 yard range in Greenville called APG. Just west of I30 on 380. Cool place. About 45 minutes yourside of Dallas. Let me know if you go there maybe we could meet up.

Gibson's Gun Range, on Lawson Road, in Mesquite, Texas. I believe it has about 4 slots for 200 yard range. It's south of I-30 and Highway 80, but north of I-20. Mesquite is about 13 miles east of Dallas. I don't have a phone number or I'd give it to you.

Rollwave88, I've seen just a little about BGC but haven't talked to anyone directly who's a member. Yeah that'd be great. IM for the rest of it.

Nice 200yard rifle range in Paris, TX. No crowds. Most of the time you will be the only one there.

$50 a year and they will give you the combo to the gate.

It's my nearly every weekend getaway.:)

Just wanted to say I was wrong about Mayflower. I went today for a few hours, had a good time.
