2006 olympic ar-15 model plinker

just purchashed a new ar-15 brand olympic,have read some nasty comments on older olympics on other boards from the past, any body have one between year 2000 and present. how do you like them any problems? also bought a used ruger mini 30 with the 7.62x39.any comments on either would app.thanks!

I have an older cast plinker.

had to swap out the hammer,sear,trigger.

ran fine after that.about 1K down the tube no probs.

real tight fit between upper and lower.

I had a 1989 Olympic for my first AR. No problems at all with it, old or new.

Bought a Plinker Plus-20 upper earlier this year for my first AR build, the one problem i had with it (needed barrel re-indexed to fix "rifle zeroed with rear sight hard against left stop") is one that has been noted as happening with Bushmaster and others as well, and Olympic fixed it and had it back to me in a fairly timely manner.

my only other complaint about the 20" plinker (don't know about the 16") is that they have an HBAR profile barrel, and i find them to be "nose heavy". i would much prefer it with a Gov't or even LW profile barrel.

I have a K3B which is basically a Plinker Plus with a flat top and collapsilbe stock. It has been a very reliable rifle.
