So then, we shut down all the boy scout shooting activities, all the junior shooters leagues to name a few and this is going to save lives how?

They're statist's. They don't give a hoot about lives. Control is their deity. Nothing else matters. Nothing.

This is about much more than gun rights. This is about the rights of parents to parent their children as they see fit. If this passes, then the sky's the limit. Next they'll be micromanaging what you can and can't do with your kids.

Well folks it's that time of year again. Legislatures coming back into session.

New today for New Jersey:

ACR205 & SCR117 are the legislatures attempting to override the changes Christie made to the rules for carry license again (he vetoed the last one)

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-New-Jersey-Gun-Law-ACR205/State-Law/48986

S2496 & A4071 would rewrite the rules on who can get a firearm purchase card that includes prohibiting anyone on the terrorist watch list.

So once again the Democrats in Washington think they can sneak a few bills by us by releasing them on the weekend.

They still don't realize we watch them like a hawk and they aren't getting away with it any more. Besides one good bill (republican backed of course) the Democrats tried to sneak these out over the weekend:

HB6024 would require all federal military and civilian agencies that use firearms to provide safe storage for them when not in use and training for all about the dangers of firearms that ae not stored correctly.

HB6052 has no text yet but the description says 'To amend chapter 44 of title 18, United States Code, to prohibit the possession of a firearm by a person who is adjudicated to have committed a violent juvenile act.'

HR870 congratulates Remington on its 200th anniversary

Can we amend HR870 to rebuke Remington for the quality of its 870 chambers, these days? :neener:

New today:

New Jersey:

A4179 would require anyone that wants to use another person's firearm at a range or training facility to have either firearms purchaser identification card, a permit to purchase a handgun, or a permit to carry a handgun. The person loaning the firearm would also be required to have the same identification

A4180 would require anyone wanting to shoot at any range to show a firearms purchaser identification card, a permit to purchase a handgun, or a permit to carry a handgun along with a drivers license.

Pennsylvania HB2351 is one of those 'what idiot wrote this' bills. It requires all firearm dealers an d their employees to undergo background checks. Obviously the idiot that wrote this doesn't realize it's against federal law for a prohibited person to work selling firearms.

US SB3332 would delay the sale of firearms to anyone on the 'terrorist watch list' for 3 days, during that time the government would have to prove in court the person was a danger and if they lose the government has to pay the persons court costs

Mr. Dalton,

Haven't seen any new posting from you on this thread lately. Hopefully all is well with you. Your summaries of pending legislation has been and is greatly appreciated.

Yup, it was that NRA-ILA alert email that made me realize that dc Dalton hasn't posted anything here recently.

You know how I know that they don't know what they are talking about? See the item in bold below:

Sec. 2. As used in this act:
(a) "Assault weapon" means any of the following:
(i) A semiautomatic pistol or semiautomatic or pump-action
rifle that is capable of accepting a detachable magazine and that
has any of the following features:
(A) If the firearm is a rifle, a pistol grip located rear of
the trigger.
(B) If the firearm is a pistol, a shoulder stock of any type
or configuration including, but not limited to, a folding stock or
a telescoping stock.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if your pistol has a stock, it's not a pistol anymore.

Also of note is the inclusion of pump action rifles with detachable magazines... I am aware of the Remington 7600 and the Troy pump-action "AR". The remmy doesn't seem to have any of the other evil features, so not an AW under this bill. Any other evil pump actions out there?
