This is from last weekend. Passed up on some bigger guys opening day but was too picky! Ended up settling on this guy. The durn fellas antlers shrunk as soon as he hit the ground. Hate it when that happens ;)

Second day of the big game season in NY. Took this 8 ptr. at 85 yds. with a Rem. M 600 in .243 RCBS with a 100 gr. Nosler Partition. As he was walking towards me he put his head down and I drilled him between the shoulders. He dressed at 162 lbs. IMG_2339.JPG

Thanks, I think we will. I wish I had a scale to know how much he weighed, my guess is 230+. I have dragged 200 lb deer before and this guy we could hardly move he was so big.

I love seeing all the pictures of different deer here, interesting to see the different genetics in the different areas of the country. Keep them coming!

Past Saturday morning in NW GA, covered up in fog and he answered my grunts and blowing thru my doe can call. Really covered in black hair on his back and dark antlers. FoggyBottomDeer1.JPG FoggyBottomDeer.JPG

Was blessed with another nice doe this morning. It was a pain getting her in the trunk by myself. Almost busted a nut! LOL

I took this 7x7 on the third with my bow. Called him out of the forrest with rattling and a Tru talker. I have known about him for 5 years and he was nocturnal till this year. He was aged at 8.5 and smooth mouthed. 192 inches typical. On the demise for sure. He probably lost 20 inches guessing from past pics of even last year. (see below) I've planted food plots and watched him (on the trail cam) for all this time and saw him just a hand full of times. I'm glad I finally got him, but it did bring a tear to me thinking the pursuit was all over and the old boy was done.

Had a great time processing our 4 deer last night. Schnapps, good music, sharp knives, good banter and memories. Good season!
