Ohhh, it is steel (found a use review of the previous model), but if a knife won't hold an edge from moderate use it isn't very useful as a cutting tool.

Not sure, nothing on the packaging to indicate other than "stonewash blade"
Decent edge out of the blister pack, but I gave it a few passes over the bottom of my work coffee mug and it improved the edge a little.
For under $5.00 I think it is worth a little more playing with. The sheath only grips at the bottom of the edge (Ricasso?).

I am a sucker for the harpoon blade configuration. At this price point one must assume inexpensive "surgical stainless steel" but the proof will be in edge retention and ease of sharpening. It does appear that some thought went into finish and design, but the sheath seems to make the knife ride high on the belt. I will stay tuned for your experience after you have used it for awhile.

If looking for an inexpensive fixed blade buy a Mora. It'll cost more than $5, but $15-$20 isn't going to break the bank and they are a decent knife.

Mora's I have, this just had a interesting shape and for under $5 it seemed worthwhile to play with .

The sheath does rise high but very close to the body. Found it to be comfortable to wear when in the car. Also it carries well IWB .

Moras used to be inexpensive, than everyone ruined the price by claiming what a great knife it is, and it's true they are a great knife but not cheap anymore.

Prices did go up on Moras, but you can still find the basic models for $10-$15.

Thanks, I JUST bought a couple of the ELDRIS models and they were 30 bucks. Very very sharp knives. I was cutting paracord and all I did was push down with out slicing and it cut it. Blade HQ are out of stock now but order 2 more of the craft line. Thanks again.

If that dude said "not bad" once, he said it 23 times!
440 B steel is a Pakistani or Asian staple and has no place in my collection.

Picked up this Western hunting knife many years ago. The cutlery shop where I was at had a basket full of them for like $7 or $8 each, along with another basket filled with their boot knife for the same price. Should have bought both of them along with a couple more as they were a decent knife for a very good price!
