For those of you that are reloading for a CZ 204, what powder are you using? Bullet choice?

I have a 204 American.

I've used this load on crows, groundhogs, raccoons, coyotes and deer at ranges up to 300+ yards and it's deadly and accurate. I shoot it out of a T/C Contender rifle.

I find the 204 Ruger very easy to reload for. I've used Varget and H335 both with equal success. Nearly all my loads now use the 335 since it's more consistant in my powder measure.

My semi-auto sporting American Rifle in 204 Ruger shoots the 32 grain VMAX with H4895 and AA2230 quite well.

I have been working with CFE223 with 40 grain bullets in both the semi-auto and a Savage 12 with promising results but have not settled on one bullet/load yet. The Savage may not like the 40 grainers as the twist is marginal for the 40 grain bullets.

I like Ramshot's TAC powder. Meters well, clean, accurate, etc. I don't understand why CFE223 even sells, over TAC, but I haven't tried CFE223. I don't have a copper fouling problem after 500-1000+ rounds?

Page 8 of this Ramshot document says 26-28.5 gr. of TAC for a 32 gr. bullet in .204. I use Fed 205 primers, 2.250" OAL, but I shoot 39 gr., and about midrange of the above range. Rem 7 1/2 primers seem to work OK, too. I shoot them in an AR with a 24" barrel.

Varget and Benchmark seem to work as well, but, not quite as accurate, even when I trickle up loads. I assume its due to the powder shape.

I use Benchmark for lighter bullets and AA2520 and 8208XBR for heavier ones up to 55gn.

anything that works well in 223

will work well in the 204. I have gotten sub 1/4 MOA groups with H-335, BLC-2 and TAC. My rifles are Savage model 12's.:D
