22 Ammo cannot find

Russ... If we kicked their lousy A's instead of lining their pockets with cash, by buying from the scumbag flippers, then they'd stop. Wouldn't they?

Copy that. I haven't bought any ammo at the scalpers price, nor will I. Between me and my fellow shooters here in southern New England, I'm SURE we'll get through the drought

I know the prevailing thoughts are that ammo manufacturers are indeed at full production with 22LR...but I find it hard to believe due to there being no 22LR available for so long. In talking with the few retailers here, I hear that no 22LR is available at the wholesale level.

If it IS being mfg'd, where is it all going?

But it IS available! Haven't you been reading all these various comments about people finding and buying it? It's just not nearly as readily available as it used to be.

I know I've made many myself, some in this very string.

This is the nature of a shortage, wherein demand outstrips production. If you could readily find the ammunition everywhere, then by definition there wouldn't BE a shortage!

Shortages suck, no doubt. And when they happen, you have to work harder to find and buy what you need.

Not much is making here to CT :(

That sucks.

I don't see myself traveling up that way anytime soon, but if I do I'll PM you and arrange to bring some up at cost. The closest I'd likely come would be the D.C. area, though.

However, you CAN order it online from various sources which are accepting backorders. It would just take you a while longer.

And check out gunbot, too.

The Cabelas store in Columbus Ohio supposedly gets ammunition resupply daily but they don't have 22lr when I go in (I have been in store in the morning, afternoon, and early evening, same result).

I guess the welfare kings are flipping the 22lr so their welfare checks will go farther for beer, cigs, and crack.

RetiredUSNChief: That sounds like a decent deal, but most of my three and a half bricks are Federal or Win. Otherwise I might have traded those "other" brands for Wolf/Tula 7.62x39.
In the old 1940's Savage, the generic Rem. or 'Thunderblast' causes gas blowbacks literally every other round. Not so in the Rom. M-69 Trainers.

After discovering when ammo is stocked and sold at my local WM I got there at 7:00 AM. No one was there but me. The clerk opened the boxes and said she found no .22LR in any of them. I looked and found exactly one 100rnd box of Remington Target .22LR. I bought it and will try again Monday at 7:00 AM. No other customers showed up while I was there... maybe they knew (somehow) that there was no .22LR to be bought.

Here in Oregon, dealers at gun shows have actually admitted that they send folks out to the stores to purchase as much 22lr they can find at the stores (they are warned when shipments come in), then mark it up 2x at the show. So I guess the dealers are the welfare kings?
