Every time I try to search for the old 22 CB Cap ammo it just brings up 22 CB Shorts. Do they no longer make the Cap ammo? If they do still make it, do you know where it can be bought? TIA....

Not exactly CB caps but take a look at Aguila Super Colobri ammo.. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2506295321/ Basically silent in a rifle (I only hear the hammer fall), a little noisy in a hand gun. It works very well in my Stevens favorite.

Well you are right, the price can scare the pants off one.. But if you can get some at local shows you can get them cheaper and not pay the shipping.. Also you can get them in bulk and bring down the price.

And sadly some guns are not made for 22 cb shorts and need the old Flobert rounds. Like many of the 6mm Flobert gallery guns of the past.
like the Lebel Buffalo training rifle.

Yeah , super colibris work great in my savage 72 (same as the favorite), really the only gun I have that shoots them well past 15 feet. Must be something with the bore diameter or the twist rate.

I still see them from time to time. Very quiet. Make sure they clear the barrel if it’s a rifle length. Shorts may be better. They are quiet if it’s a rifle.

One warning about the RWS caps. The projectiles are not held in well and a lot fall out of my revolver. I suspect they would work well in a single shot.

In my Favorite they are about Coke can accurate out to 30 yards or so. I use them for shooting Brown Headed Cow Birds, a local pest in the spring. The birds will come in as a flock to peck on the ground and they don't know what's happening due to no report. The cats love it.

I also like to use SCs to teach young, new shooters since you don't need ear pro.

You guys beat me to it, the Super Colibris are my cottontail medicine out of my Rem 541. Perfect for plinking the spinning gopher target I have on the small hill near my back door, too.

    Stay safe.

You can see from this picture why I’m looking for them. The one on the left of the empty spot is a 22 BB Cap and the one right is a 22 short. I have some 22 CB shorts but they aren’t the same as the Caps.

    A warning about CB's.
A friend bought some to shoot through his bolt action .22
He was sure he had not messed with the sights but couldn't even get on paper at 25yds. Once he removed the bolt he discovered that his .22 had a pretty tight bore and at least the first CB cap didn't have enough oomph to make it out the muzzle. Had five little bullets packed in one behind the other.:D

The only place that I've ever found CB caps was behind a mantelpiece in an old house that I was remodeling.
    I wish you luck... .

theotherwaldo, glad you told us about that. when i was 13 years old and now im 78, i helped my uncle tear out a wall to expand his pantry that holds all his stored kitchen goods. behind that torn out wall was unused space from the old days with shelves. on one of the selves was a full box of unused .22longs. they were very very old. my uncle has a new high end semi auto winchester rifle. we went out hunting later that week for roaming skunks as they were too many of them. he loaded that new winchester with those very old 22 longs. shot a couple of skunks with them. they stunk realy bad after the report. but cycled very well in his gun. no jams. i dont know what kind of powder was in them but it smelled very bad. and their was black smoke. maybe black powder. my uncle shot all of them up. they all went off and cycled in his gun well, had to clean the gun when we got home. it was shooty in the action and the barrel. anyone know what kind of powder was in those very very old longs? at another uncles abandoned old house i found some 22 longrifles in his up stairs loft. maybe 200 of them. i tried shooting them but could not use them as the cases split very shot. they went off but the cases split. had to throw them away. the brass had become brittle. they were subject to extreme heat and extreme cold for a long time.

And that is why higher end air rifles were invented. Good to 50 yards and beyond.

Some of the fast PCP air rifles are louder than you might think, louder than the Super Colibri.

    You are 100% right.
    My Ruger Airhawk is loud.
I'm not sure what the Super Colibri is intended for. Unless it's just for paper.
