I'm looking to get 22 mag rifle. I would like it to come ready to go with threaded barrel, iron sights, and scope capable. Any suggestions for one. Online the only one I found was a Henry lever. Any others let me know. If nothing else. Is Henry worth it

ruger makes the american in that configuration, Savage has the b22 and 93 that have all but the iron sights.

Theres actually more manufacturers im sure, but I dont feel like searching them all.

Cant say as to the Henry being worth it or not. All of the Henrys ive used were nice guns, and if it was something I WANTED, they would be a consideration.

Henry is a good one. Didn't realize they had a threaded bbl version.

I was going to suggest a CZ457, they have excellent sights, but they don't make them in 22Mag with a threaded bbl. I don't understand why not?

The Ruger American Rimfire has your configuration, but the sights are only so-so, IMO.

Id guess because they arnt popular to suppress, and most muzzle devices on cartridges that small in rifles are for appearance.

I almost suggested the 457 also, but Ive looked at the barrel options and dont remember seeing sights or threading on any .22 mags

you CAN get aftermarket barrels that offer threading from a few different sources.

I’d get the CZ and have it threaded at least that way you could go .22lr or 17 hmr if you wanted to.

I have tried to like my .22 mags in the past but for whatever reason they simply lacked the accuracy I wanted, so I wind up using a 22 lr or a 22 Hornet more often than the mag.

So thats been a recurring theme when some one brings up the .22 mags. Ive never owned one, and only used friends guns, so havent gotten to really do much accuracy testing.
Ive heard it enough now tho that Ive got little or no interest of getting a .22mag for what I do.

I suppose even with my .22 LR’s it’s a matter of testing a number of different manufacturers and types of ammo to find what works best, not completely unlike working up a load for the Hornet, trying different bullets, powders and such. While there may be an abundance of choices on a shelf for .22 LR, often very few for .22 mag, lots of places I go it’s Winchester or CCI, sometimes just one or the other, there are others out there though.

None. 22 mag not worth ammo cost.

I really like the 22 mag., it has a lot more power than a LR and the best part is, I don't have to reload to get it!

As for accuracy, some are and some aren't, just like LR's, my Remington 597M is more than accurate enough for hunting/pest control and that's what it's used for.

I get very good accuracy from my CZ 452 Lux mag. Never more than 2" at 100 yards with a scope. IIRC my old Marlin mag did very well too.

I have a CZ 512. It is very accurate. There used to be a model with a threaded barrel but I believe it was discontinued.

I shot a ruger American rimfire, one of the most accurate 22mags I've seen. Can't go wrong with cz ether.

Don't overlook Anschutz, especially if you want an accurate rifle. Which some (many) makes and models of .22 Mags are not.. DSC_0180.JPG DSC_0183.JPG DSC_0188.JPG

My 597M is the rifle I hunt with most. It will touch holes at 50 yds with my pet ammo. (CCI 40 gr TMJ)

Wish i had one shoot that well. The few times ive shot .22mags for groups they were 2-3" at 100yds

Perhaps ill get a .22mag barrel for my 457 and see what i can get out of that gun.

If the Tech-sights for the RAR 22LR work on the .22 Magnum, those sights are excellent.

    I have two .22magnum rifles.
An excellent little rifle is a Winchester 9422XTR classic. Some people claim that .22mag is not an accurate round. I can dispute that theory with my 9422XTR.
Also the RAR is a great rifle. Mine is the 'American Farmer edition '.

I will agree that in general, 22LR is more accurate. I just have never seen a big enough difference for it to matter in my uses. I use a 22 mag for hunting which is what I think it is made for. The arguments about the ammo costing too much are silly to me. I use it for hunting, not range blasting. 22 LR is better suited to range fun and the two rounds aren’t different enough for one to be more fun to shoot at the range than the other. The 22 mag makes a bit more noise. Perceived recoil of either is non existent.

Here's mine just after I bought it, I was leaning over my 4 wheeler,

    standard.jpg

I haven't touched the sights since and untold amounts of "pest" have been dispatched with it.

BTW, it's not picky on ammo either, I mostly keep it loaded with 40grain WW HP's...

My Ruger American in 22 mag is my best 100 yard pest shooter. I put a leopold 3X9 ,a $500 scope on $250 rifle but I am happy with the combo.
