Anybody know how many .223's will fit in a flat rate USPS box?

I was just sent approx 1100 brass cartridges in a box. I will have a better figure when I finish reloading them all.

I guess 1100 because I have loaded about 600 and still have a bunch to go.

Hope that helps, it is not an exact figure.

I know 1500 will fit but I've also heard of some folks getting 2000 in a flat rate box. I'm wondering if 2000 is chancing it?

There was definitely room for more brass in the box sent to me. I wasn't complaining, as it was free. The box was probably 70% full.

Are we talking the $10 box or the new larger $12.95 flat rate box?

    I was talking about the $9.80 flat rate box which is 11" X 8.5" X 5.5".
    I wasn't aware USPS had a larger one. I checked it out and the new box is 50% bigger measuring 12” x 12” x 5-1/2” for $12.95.
I'm betting the larger box would easily hold 2000 .223's .
    Thanks for pointing that out...

The $9.80 flat rate box holds around 1500-1600 depending on how you shake them in there. Look around on all the sale forums and you will see listed 1500 piece full flat rate box frequently. Every now and then you will see 1600 but not too often.
