Does anyone use IMR SR 4759 powder to reload .223Rem? I want to use it for reloading 55gr FMJ bullets. Does anyone know about how much powder I will use per round? Is this a good powder to use for .223? Thanks.

No, I do not think it is a good powder for the 223. If it was it would be listed in several manuals. This is a fast powder and if you are loading it in an AR or similar semi-auto it may not cycle the action.

If you must have data I found this for you.

Why such fast powders for your AR? There is a whole host of excellent powders in the proper burn range for the 223 AR. Powders like 335, Tac, 2230, Varget, X-T, 748 etc. etc.

As steve4102 mentioned, the two powders that you mentioned are really too fast burning to be considered for use in an AR with 55 FMJ. They can be used with lighter bullets but they build pressure rather quickly with their burn rate.
There are much better powders to use in the application that you mention.
Check your load manuals for good powders or look at www.hodgdon.com, www.ramshot.com or www.accuratearms.com/.

Alright, I found a load that uses Ramshot Xterminator powder from Ramshot's website. Will a loading with this powder be suitable for use in an AR15? Thanks.

SR4759 is a powder normally used for reduced loads in rifle cartridges. This powder really has no application in the 223/5.56 cartridge; however where there is a will, there is a way and someone may come up with an application for it.

Yes X-T will work. I use it as well as other Western ball powders like Tac, 2230 and 2520. What manuals to you have on hand? They should have quite a list of excellent 223 powders.
