I have saved some funds and have found a good price for both of these. I already have a 226ST 9mm and a 92fs, so i have mags for both.

Vertec 92g --$469.99
229 9mm DAK-- $569.99

Both are for new pistols. I kinda wanted the vertec but im not sure about getting a decocker only model, i like the safety on my 92fs. Which would you choose?

No safety on the 229 so both guns you're considering are sans mechanical safety.

Out of the box they will both be very well put together, high quality guns. Of the 2, probably the DAK will have the better trigger (out of the box).

You can put a D model hammer spring in the Beretta for around $5.00 and about 3 minutes. Once complete the trigger pull on the beretta will be significantly better.

Which fits your hands better?

I have a 92G Vertec - -it's a great gun. It fits my hand very well. The D-spring mod makes a big difference!

I used to have a Sig P228 (steel version of the P229). I sold it. It didn't fit my hand and the decocker position didn't thrill me. Even with a reduced hammer spring, it didn't shoot as well as the Vertec.

Obviously, I'd go with the Beretta.

The fact that you found a new 92G Vertec is incredible in itself. Buy that thing ASAP and never look back. You can find another deal on a Sig any day of the week, but a discontinued, hard to track down Beretta is something you don't see every day.

Check out the latest CDNN catalog - page 4. 92G Vertecs for $470.

Not a fan of the Vertec & IMO, to have the DAK on a SIG seems silly. But, If I had to pick between the 2, I'd probably go w/ the Beretta & put the $$ into ammo, range time, and maybe a couple IDPA matches ;)
