22lr accuracy at distances beyond 50 yards, and fun shooting

Don't shoot at that distance too often honestly--but I figured it probably beats death by poison. I will admit that I'm not the one who defines the std. for morality when it comes to shooting pests at any range. Vel at 475 was ~750 fps (like a pellet at the muzzle) with about 50 ft lbs.

The added weight of the bullet is what give us the "hitting power".....my point was at this range with a 40-ish grain bullet at best....at 477 yards...a tick over a quarter mile (i lost my ears around loud cars)....so much can happen in that distance. Shooting paper or steel at that distance zero issue.....chances of a good clean kill at that distance with that round.....All I can say if I had a lazer 22 that I knew would hit I would not take the shot.

Better then poison yup, but what are the chances of a non lethal hit at that range.....could it have ended up worse then poison....yup.....and we all know even the best 22 ammo is not that good.

For me....even in pesting....If I can't put 9 out of 10 in the "kill zone" then I will not take the shot.....if his....device can do this at 500 yards then I will take back my words....but we all know it can't....the ammo is not that good even at olympic levels.

Thks. Ern. for starting this thread--always good to hear what others are doing at longer ranges. This LR 22 thing has been a fascinating endeavor for me for sure. Have learned a lot over the years from you and others. No better application for practical math IMO besides just balancing a checkbook.
