36gr Remington Golden bullet is what we are using.
I think it is 1280fps rated.

Marlin 60 is the rifle.

Any recommendations?

if you want power, especially at range, CCI Velocitors are tops.
I've chronographed them at a true 1415fps out of a 20" barrel, and they are a full 40gr bullet.
Add the fact that they shoot 0.5"@50yds out of my rifle, and you've got a winner.

I'd avoid anything by Remington. Their bulk ammo is dirty, inconsistent, and unreliable, in my experience.

... if using a bolt action I would maybe agree, but velocitors are in a stinger case, and will generally beat the absolute crap out of a semi auto action.
I do not know the long term effect of a too long for throat/tight fit to the lands bullet will do to a bolt action throat either... if anything at all. Aand the Interceptors are still faster , out of a 22lr
case.

We had 3 guys, 2 with Marlin 60 and the other with 12ga SxS. The 12ga had no issues. But I need some practice getting on target quickly in the field for deer season. So I wanted to keep with the Marlin 60.

The Golden Bullets were good for shooting our reactive target (Tin Can) at 40 yards or so.

I like the idea of 40gr and higher velocity.

I agree with Daizee, CCI Velocitors hit as hard as any commonly found .22LR ammo I've used. One place where I hunt rock chucks does not like me shooting centerfire rifles, and the Velocitor ammo seems to anchor them better than anything else I tried.

#2 choice for me would be CCI Mini-mags.

As long as you are happy with what you are using and getting good results there really isn't a need to change. CCI is a step up in class over the Remington in about any load with the exception of the Remington Yellow jackets as they have a solid rep. as a good hunting load. Very few CCI .22's have the primer missing which is something the Remington bulk is infamous for ............

Jacks are very quick. We hunted them in Utah. Lots of fun. It would help to have something hyper velocity for shooting them on the run, but if you're willing to wait sometimes they will run less than 100 yds. and turn back to look at you. That's when you can pop them.

Another vote for the Aguila Super Maximum. Just make sure you sight your rifle in for these rounds, as they'll have a different impact point from std 22LR ammo.

Use DRock's bullet sizer on whatever ammo you want to. I should really write an indepth review of it, it's a handy little gadget. I've had really good luck making hollow points out of Blazer. I use a little arbor press to size the bullets using the tool, but I think he originally was using a drill press to do it. This pics are from from a post Trigger-Time made over on RimfireCentral.

I'd buy a collection of high and hyper velocity rounds and see what runs best myself.
CCI mini-mags, velocitors, SGB, etc
Federal makes some hunting stuff
Aguila makes some screamers, not sure if they'd be happy running in a Marlin60

If it were me, the words "Remington" and "rimfire" don't go together, either, but I've had too many sour tastes left in my mouth by Remington stuff to even consider trying their better lines.

The answer to your question lies in a big pile of ammo, not on the 'net, go forth and increase your ammo stash, then expend some of it!

Choice of ammo is certainly important but shot-placement is more important.
Head shot only............ ammo choice not as important. JMO.

For what it's worth..... I was at the range one day and a guy came in with 9 different brands of 22 lr. He fired each brand at it's own target and the difference in the groups at 50 yards was astounding. I asked him about it and he said that he never bothered about price. He bought them all and whichever shot the best, be it expensive or dirt cheap, was what he used in that particular rifle from then on. And from the look of those targets, I had to agree that he had hit upon a very good idea.

These jacks here in south Texas have about 10 yards before they can find something to hind under or behind, be it tall grass, a Mesquite tree, or prickly pair patch.
Mostly, I need to get on target faster. But we would like more thump into these jacks.
I see there are several brands with 40gr about 1400+fps. The golden bullet would knock them around, but unless you got a solid hit, they will run off. I like the bullet pointer idea as well, I have seen that before and wondered how it was working. Thanks for all the info.

I've found rabbit easy to take, to the point where I was ridding the garden of them with a .22 pellet rifle as a kid.
I would think any chunk of lead you can zip through them will do the job just fine.

For hares such as jack rabbit, I would probably opt to go with CCI SGB you're ok with a truncated or Velocitor if you want a full weight HP at high velocity.
