I stopped at a regional gun shop chain and they had several cases of CCI ammo that were marked factory seconds, 100 round boxes of mini-mag for $6.99 anybody ever use this stuff?

I used to pay that for the good stuff so I passed on it but now I'm thinking I should have tried it, FWIW they had disclaimers posted but I didn't bother to read it.

Farm and Home store opened here locally this weekend and they had CCI 2nds for $4.99/100. Bought 500 LR and 500 HP. I will report back.

If I exclusively bought minimags I probably would have picked some up, it's not a terrible price for something that the average user probably wouldn't notice a difference. But I still have 1000 rounds left of the 2,000 rounds of minimags I bought when you could get them for $4 per pack. I just don't shoot those that often.

I have a friend who used to be a Scout Master a few years ago, whenever he had a shooting activity coming up he would go by the CCI factory in Lewiston, ID & they would let him sweep up what had fallen on the floor.....he had to bring his own bucket! All good & safe ammo for the intended purpose, but likely wouldn't pass the QC for retail sale.

The LE office I worked out of as a firearms instructor once got a pallet of CCI 40 S&W marked "not for duty use". They bought this stuff at a substantial discount. We went through that entire pallet with no problems. I was never able to find out why it was marked that way.

I was gifted some 9mm Speer gold dot that was marked "not for law enforcement use". It all went bang.

I've heard, but not confirmed, there is little difference between ammo Speer marks "not for LE use" and the rest of their ammo. Most ammo is not marked LE. It usually works fine.

The only crap ammo I've ever seen from Speer is some early non toxic stuff we had to use at an indoor range. Usually at least one dead primer a magazine even with guns that are 100% reliable with everything else. I'm sure they fixed that by now.

I have some mixed case 22 seconds for sale cheap. Of course it is missing the bullet, powder and has a dent in the back of the case but the price is right.:neener:
