decided to try some 90 grain eldx in the kids 243. i havent made up my mind on powder. i have heard that h4350 and stayball 6.5 does ok. what are you guys usin?

i have imr 4064, h4350, imr 4895, h4831 and stayball 6.5 on hand.

and btw eld is not in my hornady book...too old i guess. anyone know hornadys coal for 90 eldx? 2.65?

4350 would be my first try, H4831 second, then staball 6.5. my Tikka .243 seems to love a near max load of H4831SC under a 90 or 95gr bullet, whether it be a Speer Hot Cor, ELDX, or Nosler BT.

I'd try N160 for the lighter bullets, N165 for the heavier bullets. H4350 gives short barrel life.

i use IMR 4350 & 4831. The Hodgdon brands use a little more powder.

The most accurate bullets have been Berger 68 & 90. The do all bullet is Sierra 85 gr HPBT #1530 & IMR 4350 .
If your barrel twist is 1 in10, long bullets are not as accurate in a short 18" barrel.

In the past, I used a lot of 4350. These days for most rifle calibers, I concentrate on H4895....32.5 for a 100 grain BTHP, and 37.7 for a 75 grain VMAX

I’ve settled on H4831SC for most of my loads in that weight range, up to 103 gr bullets.
