29-3 Value?

A guy I know is offering a S&W 29-3 8 3/8" for sale. I don't have much experience with revolver prices, What is a fair price for this gun? It's been shot but not a lot, no box or papers.

I offered $450 pending inspection and he accepted. That sound decent? I just want to be able to get my money back should I decide to sell.

I would have a gunsmith check it out before you give up the cash. You can't touch one out here for less than $850. So get it checked out first.

The only time old S&W revolvers come up for sale is when the owner dies and no one else wants them.
