Find my Taurus 605 357 to be more useful than a snub. Same overall size except fot that extra inch on the barrel.

Anyone else like 3 inch revolvers?

I had a 3 inch Rossi that I felt was the perfect size for carry, and gave me six rounds instead of five.

The FBI agreed; they issued three-inch Smiths for years. I like the concept, but the marketplace doesn't. You can find two- and four-inch all over the place but for some reason, not a lot of three-inchers.

Snubs? Did anyone say snubs?

And that is just a few of 'em.

The 3-inch revolver is in an awkward place; it's too big for pocket carry, too small for hunting or woods carry. It's well suited to concealed carry but nowadays most folks prefer autos if they're going to carry something that big on their belt. My battery of .357 revolvers includes 2-, 4-, and 6-inch models; the 3- and 5-inch guns fall in between and I just don't have a practical use for them. But I want one (or two) anyway.

SP-101 and S&W 36 here. A 3" barrel is perfect for carry, even in a pocket-- provided it's a back pocket. Not so much barrel as to slow down the draw appreciably, but enough to provide some sight radius.

Agreed that 3 inch barrels have advantages. No problem getting them in my pockets.

Have a three inch barrel for the Colt Detective with shroud and the S&W 36. Never found a gunsmith who would replace them though.

I'm conflicted on the matter.

On one hand, I can't think of a better all-arounder than a 3" k-frame. I love my 3" M65, and if I were to keep only one handgun, that'd be it.

On the other hand, I have to echo Sergei Mosin: I'm not limited to a single revolver (or even to revolvers), so for any particular use, I have a better alternative than my 3" M65, which, as a consequence, is rarely carried or shot.

^ ^ ^ Beauties, those, Aarond!

One of the first revolvers in my collection was this 3"-barreled "J-Magnum"-frame .357 Magnum-chambered S&W Model 60...

...with the intent to use it loaded with .38 Special +P, and as a plinker using .38 Special.

Now that I've shot it some, .38 +P is a near perfect load for it. .357 is doable but not altogether comfortable, even with this great Hogue Monogrip installed. Gonna get some leather for it and use it as one of my camp guns, but with the first three holes stuffed with .38 +P and the last two .357 Magnum.

Mr B
I agree there are better choices. I got a whole safe of them but the 605 fills a right now need.
A couple times a year my back and right hip kick up and I cant carry my beloved 1911's, CZ's or even my polices service six. Even the 649 snub is too heavy. The 605 is light enough to be comfortable, and we all know 158 JHP goodness will get the job done.

I have a 3" SP101, that I like a lot. IMO that extra inch or half makes a bigger difference than you'd think, especially with regard to sight radius.

If I had to choose between 3" guns vs 2 1/2" guns, I would go with the 3" one, but I have a 2 1/2" 686 I like a lot.

I usually carry a 3" revolver but I have noticed that the 4" guns don't tip outward as much in a high and tight holster. So 3" is a bit more comfortable at times, but the 4" is actually more concealable for me.

I really want a 3" RB Model 13. probably enough that i will overpay for a nice one if I see it in a LGS, just like I recently did when I found a 2" RB pre-Model 10 M&P that was on the wish list.

Right now the closest I have to that 3 incher is my 2.75" Speed-Six.

Very nice section of 3 inch wheel guns pictured here. I don't have one that length . . . . yet. A buddy of mine carries his 3 inch GP100 all the time. I think I'd like a 3 inch model 60 one of these days. I have a 2.25 inch SP101 and a 4 inch 686 and I definitely see a gap there that a 3 incher would fill nicely, and I like that the 3 inch model 60 has the biger adjustable sights versus its shorter brother

3" K-frames ... never had one, but would love to find a 3" Model 13 in unfired (or mint) condition.

Have a 3" 36, but I'm a K-frame kind of guy ...
