3 inch revolvers - I admit I am sick and powerless to control my weakness

He meant no offense, just playing along in fun

No offense taken.

It just takes a lot . . . <sniff> to admit to . . . . <ahem> an addiction. <grumble>

Remember, we don't judge people in the Gunrunners Anonymous support group. Otherwise the next person out there who needs to admit he has a problem won't seek help.

I think your problem is much more serious than you let on, because I couldn't help but notice something was missing from your pics - it's this:

not meaning to disparage the "true" snubbie folks..
(hey, I own some too, and do carry 'em from time to time)

but never could understand why anyone would choose to carry 2" instead of a 3", given a choice, though understand full well it takes more looking for a really good 'un
(they just ain't all so popular as the most so commonly seen every day ~2")

whatever your weight/size/caliber is, it ain't enough to matter 3" vs 2", nor is ease of carry.. and "shootability" is real obvious, plus an edge for whatever powder is pushing on out the end

wish I had some more, but obliged to settle for just one (SP101), given my fondness for too many other things

but if some of X,Y,Z would just grow an extra inch I probably would !

oldfool, 2" revolvers do fit into the pockets of a pair of slacks easier.

But I agree with you. I don't put my guns into my pants pocket nearly as much as I carry them on my belt. Four inches is just a tad bit long for concealed carry for me. And two inch guns cut the ejector down to the point .38 Specials don't eject cleanly.

Like Goldilocks would say, three inches is just right. It's a shame they weren't made in the numbers the two and four inch guns were.

My edc is a 2" snub, but I carry it owb. Never got into carrying a cheeseburger sized package in my pocket. Looks odd on me. :scrutiny:

My choice of airweight is all about not feeling the weight. (That Kahr K9 just got heavy by the end of the day.)

But having said that, given a wilder world with more villains, I'd definitely oc a 3" owb.

Like I said, leaning towards a 60. Out in the woods, maybe a .45 C with 4.5" barrel slung from a drop holster.

But in town, the 3" will do nicely, thank you.

I have both, but I got the 3-inch first. Will probably get the 3-inch M637 when it comes out. I don't mind the weight of the Model 60 because I can carry it in a belt holster. Considering that I used to carry a Model 27 N-frame, the Model 60's weight isn't bad at all.

Yep, I'm a big fan of the sweet shooting, accurate . . . yet swift handling 3" handguns . . . both revolvers and autos.

Here are a couple of N frames (including a custom, shortened barrel 25-2 in .45ACP), plus a 3" K-frame Model 65 and my wife's 1971 3" J frame, a Model 37 Airweight.

Maybe that's why I pocket carry my 642. At my size no one would think twice about me having a cheeseburger in my pocket.

I too pocket carry a snubbie. In my case, a Model 37 Airweight. Ummm . . . I EAT too many hamburgers! LOL

The 3" versions are usually carried OWB or, in the case of the chopped Model 25-2 shown above, sometimes in a shoulder holster.

Bullfrog --

The only cure for your illness is to buy more 3" revolvers, like a model 65. Also, a Ruger Speed Six with a 2.75" barrel is a great well balanced revolver.

Hard to find around here

Hello friends and neighbors // Now I KNOW WHY they are so hard to find.

The full ejection rod would be nice, the longer sight radius yep no problem here, less recoil bring it on home.
I've only seen 4" or under 3" snubbies for sale around here so far. My 442 is holding up fine but I would like the 3" .357 option.

Usually to cheap to buy new but strange things have been happening lately with sales+rebates+coupons.:D

3" - 547, 13 (nickel, sigh), 65, 60 (adj sights), 629, 629 (ported Trail Boss). As Bubba said in Forrest Gump - "That's about it".

People sure have bid up the price on those 3" K-frames.

We gave gramps an old 36-1 flat latch 3" with Pachmayr Compac grip. He would never part with it, under any circumstances.

I still have an intense desire for a three inch .44 Special, though.

Yummy! I had a Taurus, but it was stolen. :( Mebbe I'll have a nice 696, at some point. I'd love a 3 or 4" 610.

J

Hard to resist 3" k-frames. Terrific all-arounders, IMO. I love my 3" 65. And it's smooooooth to boot...

I agree one hundred precent about three inch barrels. I just put my s&s 36-1 on consignment only because it has a square butt and crimson trace does not make one for a squzre butt j frame. purchased in in mid 70's or late cant remenber.

So i purchased a Ruger SP101 with 2.25 barrel because it was used for $329. Hope i can e forgiven. Purchased Crimson Trace from Midway, make me a crack shot out to the 75 foot target at the inside gun range. Will buy another SP101 but 3 inch barrel when I can find one on the cheap.

MrBorland, aren't you worried about leaving a superglue stain
on your 65 when you put quarters on the barrel like that?

:neener: :D

Ok, joke, joke ... where's my coffee ... ? :uhoh:

You won't regret it. It's the best handling, most "organic" feeling handgun that I own. When I pick it up, it becomes an extension of my hand like no other handgun I've ever held.

there is no cure.

get yourself a 686P 7 shot in 3 in.

it will stave your craving for a few days.

At one point, superglue seemed tempting. :banghead: Here's the vid, though:

It's another reason to like 3" guns - the coin trick is a little (a very little) bit easier with short-ish barrels.

Seriously, though, if I were limited to a single revolver, it'd be a 3" k-frame.

Very nice, Mr. Borland.

My hands aren't steady enough to perform like that these days. But the action of a Smith can be made to allow someone with good control to do it. I imagine the same can be said for some of the Pythons I've picked up, too.

Then you would love this.
