Anyone have a good line on 30.06 ammo? I need some for my M1 and the only place so far I have acquired any from is the CMP which comes out to about $0.27 per round...

(I would've searched on this, but I am concerned that the post may be outdated vs. price...)

The cheapest I've found locally for .30-06 is the "Monarch" ammo from Academy. Its import ammo relabeled as "Monarch", which is Academy's house brand. Its available in both laquered steel and brass.

Its not as cheap as that stuff you mentioned, though. I believe its about $7 for a box of 20... so approx $0.35 per round. But its cheaper than Remington or Winchester.

CMP is 960 rounds DELIEVED for $230.
That's ($230/960) * 100 = 24 cents a round
It also comes in very nice steel ammo boxes.
You aren't going to do better than that.
In fact I just order another 960 yesterday.

Thanks for the link Eviscerator. I only occasionally see AP ammo for sale at gun shows, but like to pick up a few rounds here and there. :) I also hadn't seen the Greek 30.06 ammo for sale anywhere but CMP.

You're right Doc. Buying them loose is way less... I think I'll make the buy....

Thanks to everyone else as well for the links. J&G always seems to have good prices....

***? Ammunition To Go is definitely on my personal blacklist. They're reselling CMP ammo for a profit.

They have 768 rounds of Greek HXP for $234.95 before shipping.

This is the exact same ammo sold by the CMP for $206 after shipping.

Take a look at all the other M2 surplus they have. It's all CMP bought ammo sold at a markup.
