Anyone have a .30-06 carbine (e.g. Remington 74x, 75x, or 76x with 18.5" barrel)?

How does it work for you?

Almost, I have a HK SLB2000 in 30-06 with a 19.5" barrel. Works fine, you lose a little velocity but not enough to worry about at any reasonable range. It also has a little more muzzle blast than my 24" barrelled '06 but again not enough to be bothersome.

I have a 7600 carbine.

The velocity difference isn't much (200fps? with 150 grain Remington factory stuff), but the increase in muzzle blast over a 24" barrel is quite noticaeable

My favorite all time gun is my 30.06 Interarms Mark X bolt action rifle with a 16 1/4'" barrel. It had a 24" barrel and cheap Redfield 3 x 9 scope on it when I first got it. Had the barrel cut & recrowned and drilled for Remington BDL iron sights. Put a sling on it and a nine round butt stock ammo holder. With 4rds in the gun & 9rds at the ready, it's very "good to go".

At 40 to 65 yards, I can put them all in a 5" circle all day long. I shoot Korean mil susplus as well as cheap Federal & Wiinchester 150 grain rounds. If I want to have some fun, I'll shoot acouple of Remington 55gr "Accelerators" at night. YAHOOOOOO ! I'm told it looks like the USS New Jersey "lighting off" the big guns. :what: I love it! JMHO
