Howdy all,

I picked up an M1 carbine this summer (Saginaw S&G) from my father in law. He used to hunt with it in the 60's, and said that back then you could find ammo for it everywhere, including department stores.

Was this a more popular choice back then? Does anybody here use one regularly, and if so, where do you get ammo?

Thanks so much!

Where I live Academy Sports sells .30 Carbine, including their own Monarch brand which is made in Serbia.
Mail order/internet places like Cheaper Than Dirt carry it as well.

I was given a few hundred Lake City rounds, dated 1943 (!), and since then, have been reloading those cases.

If you decide to reload, be sure to read the comments on reloading for the .30 Carbine at the DCM site.

If anyone, is interested, the Lake City ammunition, mnufactured 68 years ago, shoots and groups well.
