Ok, I have read just about every thread that I can find on the Hezi from Advanced Combat Systems and everything seem to be old news.
Here's the Link:
http://www.advancedcombat.com/military/sm1.html

Last confirmed report was the this was supposed to be introduced to the US market in the second half of 2005, we all know how release dates can be:rolleyes: , but this had been pushed back from 2003!

Other People have posted that they have received respones from the company, but I sent emails out two weeks ago and have got nothing back. Is the company or the project dead? Were they at Shot Show? It might explain the delay if they flew all the way to the US for Shot Show and have a backlog of emails to get to.

Does anyone have any new information, I would really like one of these bullpups, but they just can't seem to get to the US.

I got a response, they weren't ready to sell last year. Then I found out bullpups are illegal.

Then I tried to buy their fore-grip that has a laser a flashlight and a bipod combined, and they weren't ready yet either.

That would have been the best carbine ever. I hope you can get one, good luck! I'll look for the guy's email address tonight.

If they were at SHOT, I didn't see them. Which is totally possible, because that place is HUGE.

It's a neat idea. I read that it requires permanent modification of the receiver, so I would be loathe to do it a USGI gun. But a Universal? Game on.

Wait, ARE bullpups illegal? I just thought they had more hoops to jump through. If they are Illegal then what about the FN PS90.

I would never chop up USGI rifle, but there is no shortage of reproductions floating around.

I sent email to several of the contacts listed on their site, but if you have another address please post it. The Hezi looks better (IMO) than the long barrel PS90 and is a heck of a lot cheaper (both gun and ammo), I hope these guys can get their act together and bring the Hezi to the US. They are kind of an underdog company, but I would support them.

Since when are bull pups illegal?

Unless you mean becuase of the overall length. IIRC the overall length must be 26 inches and barrel length must be 16", for a rifle.

The man who said that was a Canadian.

I would certainly buy one if available. From the ad, it looks like they are selling the complete gun, not a conversion kit for your gun. Did I read it wrong?

That is one of the questions I asked in my email, along with the msrp of the complete gun and the kit, will they have a place to send my carbine to have it converted, and do they have a dealer/distributer in the US yet. If I haven't received a response by next week I will send my email again.

When and if I do get a reply, I will post it here of course.

Krieg, fink, no worries. The law surprised me too, I was comparing measurements, seeing if it would be restricted or not (affects transport & storage), it was really close, like a couple millimeters.. and then I saw the rule saying no bullpups of any kind were allowed... It really let me down.

2. If you get in touch with them I'm still interested in that tactigrip! Maybe a group buy:)?

June 2, 2005 I received reply;
"Hi Scott,

1) The TactiGrip can indeed be mounted on the Hezi
2) I am unable to provide pricing for either unit, as we are still many months away from production and distribution in the USA.

Many thanks for your kind interest.

After A long while, Advanced Combat Systems returned my e-mail about the Hezi SM-1. They did respond in about a week of the original e-mail, but my filter kicked them to the junk-mail pile. Only when cleaning out my junk-box did I find this response.

I apologize for the delay in replying.

Dear Michael McHenry,

The HEZI is not yet available in the USA, and won't be until 2007.

It will first be made available as an upgrade for those owning carbines, and later as a complete rifle. There will be a central factory where those upgrades will be done to our specifications.

Dealers have not yet been selected, and pricing is not yet set.

We are based in Israel, and we will indeed ensure that we have more information "out there" when we are nearer to USA sales. I would be interested in knowing what forums showed interest?

Many thanks for your kind interest.

It looks like we still have a little wait before we see a Hezi on the US market, but it is nice to know that the company is not dead.

Also I just noticed this when re-reading the letter:
Dear Michael McHenry
My name is not Michael McHenry!?

His response did include my original letter with my correct name at the bottom.
At 00:07 16/02/2006, you wrote:

Dear Sir,

After looking at your web-site, I am very interested in your Hezi SM-1
carbine. Are your rifles currently available on the civilian US market
and do you have a dealer in the state of Washington? Is the Hezi sold
as a complete rifle or a kit and what is the retail price? How far away
is a 5.56 mm version of the Hezi? If the Hezi is only available in kit
form, do any of your dealers or your factory perform upgrades to
existing M-1 carbines?

From what I have seen, it looks like you have the makings of a very good
bullpup rifle. I have also noticed a growing interest in it at various
firearm related forums around the Internet; however, your company
suffers from a lack of information and marketing.

Thank you for your time,

I am willing to excuse a little bit of confusion due to a possible language barrier, however my name was right their on the bottom of the email.

Anyways, I thoght that was odd and that you all might be interested in reading my original e-mail.

Did you ever get a response to that email? I want one of these things BAD. It looks like a FAMAS just...better. Now I guess I need an M1 carbine. How much are they going for now at the cheapest? I think I saw a universal for around $350 somewhere.

More people need to post pics of these things

I had an ongoing e-mail exchange for some time with these guys and have been offereed the opportunity to test fire if I ever visit Israel. However, I have not heard anything from them recently. I did just e-mail them requesting an update andletting them know that Corbon now has the DPX laod for the carbine.

btt,

I still havnt gotten anything. Im trying to decide between this and a vepr. Any mre pics of this thing!?

Ker-NECROMANCY!

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about these things in recent days, as it's been about three years and this was the most relevant thread I've seen.

So, anyone know if ACS is still in business?

Complete vaporware, last I heard. Pity, it was a neat idea for non-USGI guns.
