You didn't say what type gun (bolt gun or semiauto). With 300 BLK subs, that makes a huge difference.
Just take the gas tube off and you have a straight pull. I actually picked up a BCA side charging upper for just such a purpose. It works great.Right now all I have is a 16" AR upper, but I might get a single shot or bolt gun one of these days. The suppresser shows out for delivery at the local post office today.
I have plenty of 165s & 168s, as well as Titegroup.
I have a thread about this rifle, but I don't have the motivation to go find it right now. I had my gunsmith make a custom charging handle because the regular one isn't comfortable to charge repeatedly. I left the buffer and spring in the stock, so all that's needed to return the gun to semi-auto functionality is to swap uppers. Best part (and the main reason for this build) is that the gun doesn't require special extra parts or mags. If a load doesn't perform in a semi-auto I can cycle it through the straight pull without moving the ammo between mags. Now that's a thought............ Hmmmmm....... I like it.
I'm broke until Feb 19th, but there will be no complaining, it's self inflicted and I got some cool stuff lately, including the Ruger and the FN .22 LR pistols.
Well, I have eatin' money, but you know, the fun money is gone until then.![]()
Broke too! and my wife might be losing her job! But it was ment to be this way! still smilingNow that's a thought............ Hmmmmm....... I like it.

You didn't say what type gun (bolt gun or semiauto). With 300 BLK subs, that makes a huge difference. My 5.0 grains of Titegroup under a Nosler 168 Custom Comp bullet is a great load.... in my bolt gun. For a semi auto, you are probably going to need more gas to activate the system. AA1680 may be your solution for that. Do not try to use H110 for subs. Now, for supers, I use H110 and a 110 grain Nosler. Right now, I'm experimenting with some Nosler 190 grain Custom Comps that I got on sale a few years back. It looks like the load will be between 5.0 and 5.5 grains of Titegroup for my bolt gun. And, no, I don't have a suppressor. Someday, I will move back to America from this communist state.
Well, you had to ask. I have several very important reasons:Why do you mess with subs if you're not using a suppressor?
Why do you mess with subs if you're not using a suppressor?
All the reason in the world that we need, and the smiles on others faces when they shoot it just makes it even better.3. They're fun to shoot
The sound level is still high enough to hurt/damage your ears. Hearing protection is still required.I was genuinely curious. Not sure what #2 is all about but the rest make perfect sense.
I just didn't think there would be enough sound difference, without the suppressor, to make that much of a difference.
I haven't ventured into .300 BO yet but to my ears, shooting a subsonic load in 9mm w/o the suppressor isn't that much different than shooting a super.
WOW! I had no idea.
Thank you for the chart.![]()
Firing subsonic 9mm from a 16 in barrel is like that. It's so quiet in comparison you think you can go without earpro but no, still hurts the ears. The sound level is still high enough to hurt/damage your ears. Hearing protection is still required.
Ever step off of the tail gate of a station wagon or a truck when it looks like it's going slow enough? And it isn't? Ouch, first hand experience as a young fellow.t's like getting "velocitized" in a car. When you drive 80 mph for an hour then slow to 20 mph you feel like you could hop out and jog just as fast. But a check of the speedometer says you are quite wrong
I (mid-teens) was riding on the back of a go-cart (one-seater) that would do 30 mph....the driver had slowed way down so I hopped off to run like a cool guy...a cool guy might have able to run about 15 mph but not being cool, I could not. (It's funny now!)Ever step off of the tail gate of a station wagon or a truck when it looks like it's going slow enough? And it isn't? Ouch, first hand experience as a young fellow.
Yankee, be carefully about venturing into 300 BLK! You will get hooked! You will then need a 16" barrel for the supers, a 7" barrel for the subs, you will need an AR style lower, a bolt gun, of course a can, and then probably a SBR stamp, different powder, new dies.......This is where the "adult with money" part comes in!
It really is a very versatile round and a lot of fun!
Berry's 220gr are the cheapest unless you go with coated bullets. Those unfortunately don't always play well with a can, so I moved away from them. Berry's has sales from time to time on blems.I had some 4227, but must have used it up, I think I saw CFE-BLK at the local pushers, and will pick some up if they do.
Meanwhile I have some 165s and 168s & Titegroup I am going to play with. I need to order some type of cheapish heavy bullets.
