    hey! go to www.remington.com]
and you can go to ballistics choose 3 cartridges and compare them, with differant bullet weghts the 300saum is pretty awsome.:)
and that rifle he bought is awsome looking.
when your on the web sight type "ballistics" into the search window and it should take you to the ballistics page.

quite a nice round, though not very common. i have a sendero and a dpms chambered for it. stout recoil in the bolt-action, but nothing troubling. my wife and brother-in-law are both much smaller/lighter than me, and they enjoy it.
think of it like a 30-06 ackley-very-improved, but in short-action length.

very easy to reload for, slightly more difficult to find loaded ammo for, anywhere other than online.

remington make brass, midway sell it cheaply. norma also make 300saum brass, but to better tolerances, and at greater expense. i use 178gr a-max bullets, and rl22.

I recently found a Remington Model 7 in 300 SAUM for a fantastic price. I bought the rifle for the rifle and the price, but my first impression is that it is going to be a great caliber.

I agree with kieran assessment 100%. Plenty of power without obnoxious recoil, I will probably really like the gun.
