I've got this hankering in my head that just won't go away.

I want to do .300 Whisper.

Want to get a TC Contender Barrel (18 - 20 inches I think)
Am going to mount it on a TC Contender frame in "Carbine" configuration
with a
2-8 X Burris Scope

Intend to shoot at 25 Yards from a rest
For accuracy.

Reloading of course!

SUB-Sonic..!....=< 1100 or so ft/sec

Where do you suggest I get my Barrel
( I have the TC Frame and Carbine Furniture ( as well as scope )

It has been suggested that I get a 1:8 twist barrel ( rather than the more affordable 1:10) for stability with bullets => 180 grams

Anybody out there have any experience in this .300 Whisper aea?

Does this sound feasible ??

SSK
JD Jones of SSK invented the .300 Whisper.
I would call and ask him about the twist rate.

Buddy has

a .338 Whisper, suppressed, a TC Encore. Amazing gun. We've been working up handloads for awhile now. From JD Jones.

Mighty heavy . . . IIRC the .300 Whisper was designed around a Sierra 240 grain Matchking. :neener:

Sorry for the dig . . . it's just that a friend of my Dad once built a single shot muzzle loading pistol from a kit, and the recommended charge was 15 grains of black powder. He couldn't understand why his carefully-weighed charge of 15 grams overflowed the muzzle. So gram/grain errors tend to draw my attention. :D

And to answer the original question . . . I'd contact SSK and see what they recommend to stabilize the bullets you want at the speed you'll be shooting them at.
