I need an education.

I re-sized 58 .300 Win Mag cases last night and everything went fine. Number 59 and a few Ive tried since have dings in the side starting at the line where the neck meets the shoulder moving downward into the shoulder.

I did a batch of 50 or so a month ago without any problems.

I pulled the die apart and made sure it was clean.

What would cause that after 58 cases?

These have been fired one time.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like too much lube, or lube on the shoulder area. Wipe off the lube on the shoulder before sizing. The ones that have dents are fine they will blow back out when fired....

Yep, it sounds like lube dents in my opinion. And they will iron back out when loaded and fired. just be more careful in the future as to how much lube you use, and where you apply it, Don't get any on the shoulders. This is one of the reasons why I switched to Dillon spray on lube, it is very forgiving in this respect.

There should be a very small vent hole in the sizing die in the shoulder area - make sure that hole isn't plugged.
