I know some of yall are shooting this caliber so share some of that hard earned wisdom. My biggest question with the 300BLK is about the bullets. Ive seen posts online saying any 30 cal bullet will work and others saying just the opposite. I only know one guy who shoots the 300BLK alot and his favorite is 208gr subsonic thru his suppressor.
So what kind of bullets can I use in the 300BLK??

Right most: For super-sonic one of the best is Barnes 110gr TAC-TX. They are not cheap but one of the better terminally.

Second from Right: I have been using Speer 125gr TNT for cheaper plinking ammo.

Left most: For subsonic ammo I am using Maker 220gr REX for hunting. Again not a cheap bullet but very effective for a subsonic bullet.

Second from Left: For subsonic plinking I am using Barry's 220gr spire point copper plated bullet. Pretty affordable and shoots to a very similar point of aim as the Maker bullet.

One other option for cheap subsonic is coated lead bullets. They can be had even cheaper than the Barry's plated bullets.

.300BLK is a pretty versatile cartridge. What bullet to use depends on what you want to do with it. I typically shoot 185 to 200 grain lead bullets. Subsonic loads work great for plinking out to 100 yards but much further than that and the bullet starts to drop like a rock.

I have found shorter 30.30 bullets have feeding issues in semi auto's. i.e speer 170 grain deep curls of which I have a thousand collecting dust. in a bolt any 30 cal bullet seems to work.

Some clarity may help with answers. What twist barrel do you have?

I'm a sub sonic bolt guy from a Ruger American 1:7 IIRC, and use Sierra 200gr Game Kings.

If I were going to cast I think I would go 220gr or so, depending on twist, action type, etc. Longer hard to fit into a semi.

In a semi I stick with factory super sonic loads, usually 125's but can't comment much there as I prefer it in a bolt gun.

I like Hornady 110 VMax, Nosler 125 gr. BT's, 147gr FMJ for plinking, and Hornady 208 A-Max for subsonic. Won't be shooting lead until no jacketed bullets exist.

I ordered some Speer TNT Varmint Bullets 30 Caliber (308 Diameter) 125 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point for my 300Blk loads. Will be my first go at loading this round. Your barrel length will play into it as well from what I read.

I've had good results with those TNTs for accuracy, I don't hunt so don't have personal input on terminal performance.

what's your barrel twist? Is it a semi or bolt action? Wanting to hunt with it? Shoot suppressed? Punch Paper with it?

Welcome aboard Mikhail. First thing I’d like to know is what kind of rifle are you loading .300 BO for and what’s your intended use? Like others have said, the .300 BO has many options for use.

Is your rifle for hunting? Plenty of decent .308 caliber bullets available for that.

Is your rifle suppressed? Quite a few heavier bullets available to keep you subsonic and get the most out of your build.

Inquiring minds want to know so we can help point you in a good direction.

I have only loaded supersonic, 110 V-Max to 147 FMJ. Here a some I tried.

For subs I have been using the Missouri Bullet Co. 245 gr. Shoots really well. Last I ordered they were $40/250.

Guess I should have included a bit more info in my original post. I noticed Optics Planet had a 300BLK upper, which I had read alot of great reviews and articles about, for sale for only $209 w/o BCG and CH. Its the Radical Firearms 16" with a 1/8 twist and it will be a build in progress for a while. I have a 5.56 AR15 all ready so I can use its lower with the 300 until I decide which lower I want to pair the 300 with. I dont hunt any more so most of my shooting is plinking and paper shot grouping. At the moment I dont have a suppressor but I do have plans for one in the near future.

Speer TNT 125 gr is popular and accurate in my 300BLK and 308. Price is about M80 FMJ, very reasonable.

I'm only shooting the heavies out of my 300BLK
208-A-MAX, 220 SMK, and Palmetto 208s to begin with.
using my own powdercoated 215 grain cast ones now. Accurate enough at 100 yards- 1.5"-2.0" out of a 9" barrel.

I also shoot only supersonic in my 300 Blackout. I prefer 125 grain bullets, Speer or Sierra have worked well. I've tried 110 grain and up to150 grain or so and they work, I just like the overall average performance of the 125 grainers for my situation.

with my home built 300 it will shoot 110 gr 30 carbine bullets with H110 loads all day long and very accurately.

Heavy bullet loads I like using 180 gr. Hornady Interlock with loads of Lil'gun, and subsonic loads I use Nosler 220 gr with loads of 1680.

I've shared out some of my 30 carbine bullet loads...and they don't seem to feed well...not sure if its just the rifle or what but mine will feed all day long, others will stovepipe or other issues. I have other 30 caliber rifles and use the 30 carbine bullets and was a very cool find on my part.

The 30-30 class bullets, especially the Hornady FTX bullets work quite well I've found as well.
