I'm just starting to reload for 308. I have been reloading (223) for a while. I'm going to use IMR 4064 to start with and Hornady 150 grn FMJBTs and CCI large rifle primers. I have been looking for a load but have yet to find one using this combination of powder and bullets. I'm looking for a midrange load to start with. I'm can work up from there. I'm using a Classic 4 hole turret press.

I will be shooting these in a bolt rifle (FN pbr). Thanks for your help!

I must be missing something?

I have looked at this site and unless I'm not using it right, the closest bullet listed is this one. Can I use the load listed for this bullet?

150 GR. NOS BT

WOOOoohhhh there Evan! Starting load according to my data is 43.0 grains.

Frankl03: You should be fine using the 150 Nosler data. Begin with the start load and work u in 0.5 gr increments til you see pressure signs or get to max listed load.

Good Shooting!

Frankl03, IMR-4064 for 308win with 150gr bullets, the max listed from hodgdons online data is 47.7gr and it states it's a compressed charge.

The listed data was compiled with a 150gr Nosler BT, But like Shoney mentioned, workup almost any bullet of that weight, from the lower load, towards the max, and stop when/if you start getting signs of over pressure (and reduce charge, if there is).

I use 45 to 45.5 gr of IMR4064 with my 150gr bullets. Works like a champ. BTW I use win wlr primers and win brass.

This load is for a 7mm-08, and remember to use caution in reloading
I have a favorite load for my 7mm-08 and I found it by loading 5 cartridges from the starting load and incrementing at .2 grains to a load just below the high load and found that 42.4 grains with a 140gr SPBT Sierra work very well and is very accurate.
You should do similar, start at or near the starting load and increase the charge by .2 or .4 every 3 to 5 cartridges.

Shoot each load and measure each group, find the group that is the tightest.
Some people even go as far as then doing 1gr increments.

You would be surprised on how low you can go with IMR 4064, in a 308 case, and still get excellent accuracy.

David Tubb recommended a load of 150 SMK and 39.0 grs IMR 4064 for offhand and sitting. And I copied it. This load will clean the 200 yard NRA target, as I have done that on occasion, though I do not shoot it beyond 200 yards. I just shot it across my screens one day, to see what was going on. It shot well in this rifle, but not exceptionally well.

I have shot the 150 gr Hornady in a 26” barreled Ruger. I did not use IMR 4064. I did use AA2520. A very accurate load was 43.5 grs AA2520. Based on my experience with IMR 4064, adding one grain to a IMR 4895 or AA2520, generally gives the same velocity.

If you have any IMR 3031, take a look at that target.

So, I would try 44.0, 44.5 grains of IMR 4064, and that should put you around 2700 fps in your 24” barreled rifle.

43.0 grains of IMR 4064 over a 165 Gr Sierra was a tack driving load for my Ruger M77 Ultra Light in .308 Winchester. You're on the right track.
