308 Pet Loads

I have a new Remington 700 308 and would like some input for a good starting load. It has 1-10 twist 24' standard barrel. I have 155 gr Sierra and 150 gr Hornady bullets on hand. I also have Varget H380 and IMR 4064 powders on hand.I load several calibers but am still new to 308.

47 grains of Varget is a great load with a Nosler 150. Start at 45 and work up to be safe with the Hornady.

Any of your three powders would be appropriate with those bullet weights. Varget is probably closest to ideal. Hodgdon has a great web sight that will give you starting loads.

Mine are semi auto rifles, I use 41.7gn Varget, and Hornady 168gn BTHP

Was testing loads ahwile back at 300 yds. It was a bit windy but i was shooting for group on this load.
300 yds with a 3x9 Burris Scope
Rifle was a Savage 10Fp with 20in heavy Barrel
47.1 gr Varget with 155 gr Hornady AMAX
Lapua brass, CCI BR-2 Primers
2.17 COAL (measured with a Hornady Gauge)
