.32 Mag is not as common as .32 S&W Long as the .32 Lg has been around since the 1890s and there are many revolvers that have been made in that chambering. .327 is the most powerful and en vogue iteration of the .32 caliber, one that Federal is keen on supporting, but it also isn't in high demand, so the ammo sticks around on the shelves longer.

.32 Mag has been around longer than .327, but .32 Mag revolvers never really caught on and I think only Ruger and Charter currently make revolvers for it. The industry isn't all that into producing .32 Mag ammo in any large quantity other than some small boxes of defense ammo.

Another suggestion to reload. Lee dies, Starline brass, and 98 grain WCs from Missouri Bullets. Found the bulk brass and dies on sale. (After the previous shortage I made sure I had enough primers and powder for all my calibers to last a long time.) I reload at 32 long levels which my Single-Six likes. The brass lasts for a lot of reloads. It's a satisfying round to hand load.

Well I have two boxes (40 rounds) of Buffalo Bore 100 jhp +p on the way. More stout than I was looking for but the cost is ridiculous. Some company needs to load up an ~ 85gr hp for off the shelf sales.

 

Definitely a reloaders cartridge.

No regrets, though. Reoading .32 Long & .32 mag is actually enjoyable. As is shooting them.

I do wish .327 brass / ammo was available.

 

Reloading is the way to go. Starline Brass if it says backordered go ahead and order it. It usually ships within a couple of weeks. I was looking for 30-30 brass and kept checking the website. Once it showed up as backordered instead of not available I ordered some. Had it within a week. Same with 45 colt, 45-70 brass from them.

Once I ordered 500 32 H&R mag brass and forgot that I did and then all of a sudden it showed up! Same with 500 44 Special!

 

I too wonder why this caliber is not more popular. The lack of .32 H&R on the shelves is proving pretty rough for me cause I would like to both shoot it and show it to my friends everytime we hit the range.

As an incredibly picky person for every product I buy I find that .32 h&r is the exact sweet spot EDC ammo for me.

I guess the big problem for people like me is that with caliber choice/ammo is not a product that you research and purchase just once. It's not like a car, TV, computer, chunk of land, or book. Ammo gets used up, and when your heavily researched, tested and chosen perfect caliber turns out be a limited production one it can be exceptionally frustrating. I have to admit I am a bit envious of all the 9mm, 12ga, 5.56 fans out there. Thank God for reloading I guess.

No if you all will excuse me I got to write an email to Wisconsin Cartridge asking if they plan on doing a run of .32 H&R this year as they look to be a promising source of this sweet sweet caliber.

 

I reload for it so I have everything from 78 grains to 130 grains in lead of various bullet profiles.

Only jacketed I stock are Hornady XTPs in 85-100 grains.

I was lucky enough to find the HBWC and the Speer JSP on Gunbroker for a fairly decent price.
Reloading at the moment is going to be the normal.
The JSP shoots 1200fps (great round for EDC).
I emailed Federal several times to ramp up factory ammo, but I haven’t seen much on the shelves.

 

FYI: yesterday at the local Sportsman's Warehouse I found exactly one overpriced ($45/50) box of .32 S&W Long, zero .32 ACP and three different flavors of .30 Super Carry. They don't even have any of the latter guns for sale, but Federal is pushing the ammo for all it's worth.
