Hi everyone, I’m wanting a bolt action rifle chambered in 35 Whelen. I can either buy one with limited selections or find someone that can properly install a new barrel on one of my existing rifles. One of my rifle candidates is a custom 243 win that has an 03 action on it. My question is where can I find someone to talk to about doing a barrel swap for me? I’m in South Central Iowa. Thank!

I like the sound of your nice .243. Nice!
A savage 06 from the pawn shop and have a barrel switch done would be a cheep option.
Maybe not your taste but who says you'll like a 35. One option though.

I have no idea which route is more cost effective, but you can have a smaller caliber barrel rebored to a larger caliber.

Send it to ER Shaw, they will put one of their barrels on very reasonably. I've got one of their Mark VII rifles, and the build is first rate.

On a side note, I have PacNor doing a rifle right now, but I only looked elsewhere because Shaw doesn't do an 8x68s. I've used several of their barrels and been very satisfied, especially for the price.

I really like their #2 1/2 contour, have one in 23" on an 8x64s and it really handles nice.
