So my exceedingly generous uncle is giving me a .375 and I was considering reloading simply for this gun because at around $2-3 per round I am going to start getting poor fast. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had personal experience reloading for the .375 and could give me a per 50 estimate of how much it is to reload for it.

ps I did do a search, but maybe I just failed miserably.

If you are going to handload, learn to scrounge. There are lots of used presses, dies, scales, trimmers, and loading manuals about.

Learn to be detail-oriented, or don't do this. Trust nobody and nothing without verification, otherwise your Hospital and Undertaker bills will be murder.

New and once-fired brass is not hard to find from secondary sources, and at much cheaper than store-bought.

Develop a network of friends, who will hopefully share with you info on opportunities to buy stuff cheaply.

For full-charge loads I like Speer 235gr and Sierra 300gr bullets. I like 4064 and 4350 for propellants. I have a lot of Winchester brass that I bought years ago, and my .375 likes Winchester 270gr factory ammo. I like Winchester primers. Size your cases enough for the bolt to close freely, but not more, as sizing more will cause your case life to drop considerably. Trim your cases when they exceed maximum or your pressures will go way high.

If you are new to the .375 H&H, study reduced loads. Be really careful about double charges, but reduced loads are much less unpleasant to shoot.

I bought a lot of components years ago, and shoot a lot of cast bullets, so my price will be a lot less than yours. My cast bullet loads are down around 15 cents a shot, because I've scrounged the Lead in the bullet, and am using old-stock 2400 powder and primers. The mathmatics of cost per shot only get complicated when you try to include amortization of press/dies/scale/trimmer/books.

Here are some threads on calculating reloading costs and reloading the .375:

The 375 H&H Magnum; what a classic.

I load mine with 300 gr. Hornady or 270 gr. Speer bullets over RL-15 and Federal 215M primers.
